Roxie sat up as Jon asked her the last question. "You bought whipped cream?" she asked in amazement, biting her lip slightly as she grinned sweetly. "And cherries? With, like, pips, or those little, bright red maraschino ones that come in the jars?" She tipped her head slightly to the side. "And, I'll have a cherry, please, but no whipped cream. Icky." She shuddered, still smiling.

He smiled and said,"Yup. And not the ones that come in the jars..." He grinned and added a cherry, passing her bowl and spoon to her. He then picked up his spoon and started to it. He chopped the brownie up into smaller pieces and mixed the ice cream in with it, along with the sauce and whipped cream. He then began to eat.

"Wow." Roxie took her bowl and nudged the cherry to the edge of it with her spoon. She would save it for last, she decided. Taking a bite, she closed her eyes in pleasure. "Mmm..." After a couple more spoonfuls she paused, and asked, waving her hand about, "Why did you... why did you do all this?" This was one of the best days she'd had for a very long time; and it must have taken Jon a long time to make all the food and gather all the picnic stuff.

He smiled, soon finishing off his brownie. He sipped the rest of his lemonade and put the dishes back in the basket. When she spoke, he paused and looked back at her. His green eyes were shadowed by his hair, which had chosen that moment to fall in his face. He smiled and said,"Because I wanted to." He grinned slightly and said,"Is that a good enough answer, or do you want a more elaborate one?" He wasn't being rude or anything, just a little teasing, maybe. He finished putting all the clean dishes up, after washing them with his wand and drying them. He then turned to her to wait for a response.

Roxie listened, finishing off her own brownie and picking up the cherry, first licking off the sauce and ice cream, then popping it into her mouth. "Because you wanted to?" She shrugged, laying back down as she had before. "No, no, that's fine. So... should I expect to see you around the grounds often, by yourself, eating delicious food on a picnic blanket just because you want to?" She said it with a grin, her eyebrows raised.

He smiled and said,"Not quite..." He leaned back against the tree, looking up at the clouds in the sky. He wasn't really seeing them, though. "I usually simply walk in the gardens or something like that. This is actually the first picnic I've had since Faith was little..." His smile had faded slightly, but it wasn't sadness, just thoughtfulness. "I hope you liked it, though..." He didn't look at her. There was no need yet, and he wasn't exactly sure he could. Well, not yet at any rate...

Roxie smiled. "I was just joking." She lifted her head slightly, enough to fit her arms behind it. "Liked it? Jonathan, I loved it. It's been great, hanging about, eating," She grinned. "and talking with a friend. A proper friend. I haven't done that for a really, really long time."

He smiled slightly and said,"I'm glad." He stared up at the clouds for a while, just thinking about a lot of things. He knew he liked Roxie, but something was holding him back. It hadn't been too long ago that he had given another girl everything he had, and she had ripped his heart out. He had loved her, he had even lost his virginity to her, and she hadn't even acted like things had changed. He had ended it with her just before he moved. He had to. He didn't want a long-distance relationship, and she had changed. She had become everything he hated, and he hated himself for doing that to her, but it had to be done.
He shook his head slightly, running his fingers through his hair. He needed a haircut. Badly. That was going on the agenda for very soon. He looked at Roxie and smiled slightly. "Sorry. I had a flashback moment or whatever you want to call it..." He sat up and cleaned off her dishes and dried them, putting them in the basket. He then looked back at her. "So. Anything else you want to do today?"

Roxie nodded, smiling. She watched him for a moment as he remained silent, and listened when he finally spoke. "It's... it's okay. I get them sometimes, too."
She fell silent, nodding slowly. Then she grinned, replying to his last question, "You really shouldn't ask me that. There's... there's loads of things I want to do..." She paused, glancing down. "I mean, the school has a lot of interesting places to go. I'd never be able to pick one, though. I'm indecisive, I guess."

He laughed and said,"Well, I suppose that makes two of us, then..." He looked over at the waterfall and smiled. It was beautiful. He looked back at Roxie and said,"Well, how about we just sit and talk, then? If we want to, we can find something else to do later..." He waited for a reply, his green eyes a bit more alive than they had been only moments before. He really wasn't sure what she thought of him, but for now he would be content to keep it as friends. Unless he got some crazy idea or she gave some sort of signal, that is... Of course, he would have to shut his brain down for that. Otherwise he'd never go through with it...

Roxie nodded again. "Well now, I suppose it does," she said with a smile. "Of course," she continued to his last suggestion. "That sounds wonderful." She followed his previous gaze to the waterfall, and said, "I wish I'd bought a costume. That pool at the bottom of the waterfall looks lovely and cool..."
Tearing her eyes from it, she asked with a grin, "So, what d'you want to talk about, hmm?"

He smiled, looking over at her. "It does look lovely. Cool, too." He shrugged, reaching out to pluck a small, pink rose from the ground. He smiled slightly, looking at it, then said,"I dunno. Anything? Everything?" He smiled, turning to her. He tucked the rose behind her left ear, holding her hair back. It looked lovely. He smiled at her.

"Everything?" Sitting up and moving slightly closer, Roxie reached up and gently touched the rose, staring at Jon before saying with a giggle, "What a romantic... A rose..." She pretended to roll her eyes in his direction, still smiling.
She stood up quickly, nearly losing her balance and toppling over. Kicking off her sandals, she nudged Jon with her toe and said with a grin, "I'm going for a swim. It's warm out here. You should come." Taking a few steps away, walking backwards, she called, "I'm just going in up to my knees. You should come. You won't get very wet, only if-"
But then Roxie tripped. On a great big fat rock that decided to be plain nasty and place itself just behind her foot. There was a moment, when she was stumbling, where she had about three seconds to think, Oh crap, before her stiff ankle tipped and she fell into the shallow water, letting out a gasp as the cold liquid hit her skin.
For a moment, she simply sat there, looking stunned, before saying, "Well. There goes my thoughts about staying dry, then." She stood up, brushing water from the back of her shorts and the back of her top.
