A gentle breeze blew chocolate brown locks into the soft faced girl. A slender hand coming up to brush them away. The same coloured eyes staring out from behind. When she chanced a look down, at the stones placed strategically before her, long black lashes nearly rested on her high cheeks. The soft fawn colour of her skin was thanks to being outdoors all summer with her brothers. While the rouge blush that was slowly creeping over her cheeks was for a different reason. She was thinking over the events of her day, and was surprised to find quite a few times where she thoroughly embarrassed herself in front of fellow seventh years. All she could bare to remark about this was a simple, "Oh my," muttered under her breath. Full lips moving with each syllable. The lower peach lip was fuller then the upper. Giving her a slight pout. She loved her lips, they were her favorite part of herself, besides her eyes.
She smiled softly as she spotted the gardens glass walls just over the hedge. Ash then thought to herself, 'I should really go check that out one day soon' for in her seven years being there, she hadn't yet actually set foot farther then the doorway. She always had to run off somewhere to some errand, or finish a project or some homework. This being her last year, she was slightly more relaxed about school work and had decided on making some friends maybe? It wasn't that Ash didn't have any friends. It was that most of them had given up contacting her through her school-work haze. That and most of her friends had been in the year above her, so they had graduated, and now she was left with a sparse account of acquaintances.
The breeze then began to tug at her short blue skirt. She liked to wear her house colours, not only did they look good on her, but she liked to support her house. It was a pleated skirt, with two parallel silver stripes near the hem. It showed off quite a bit of leg, but she rather liked how she looked in it. White blouse, with a blue and silver tie wrapped her upper body. The sleeves rolled up to her elbows. She had momentarily undone a few buttons at the end and tied the two sides together. Showing about two inches of her midriff. It was a warm day, and she was enjoying the breeze caressing her skin. Was that such an issue? Besides, she wore full uniform every other day. She ran her hands down her skirt, flattening it to her thighs until the breeze stopped for a moment. Then she let go, and it sprung back out to flatter her yet again.
Running a hand through her chocolate waves she sat down on a bench. One leg tucked under, the other out front. An elbow rested on one knee, and her chin in that hand. She sunk into a bit of a reverie, thinking about other things and issues in her life. A key point; making some friends. That is what it all comes down to.

Serphius couldn't think of what had driven him to the Courtyard. He knew that he'd went outside to seek fresh air, to see if that would make him feel any better. So, ten minutes since he stepped out into the pleasant day, he found himself looking around him, at the hedges fencing him in, the slightly red earth beneath his feet, and the stone benches and tables, dotted around.
The heat of the sun made him uncomfortably warm, despite the breeze. Serphius tipped the brim of black and white polka dot trilby (a parting gift of an old friend) against the bright light, and tried to stick to she shadows of the hedge as much as he could. He couldn't decide which was the worst idea - coming outside, or coming outside wearing black, which works like a freaking heat magnet. He wore tight black jeans, and a plain black t-shirt, both of which showed of his tall, slender form, complete with his polka dot trilby, chunky black boots, and a thin silver chain round his neck.
Serphius let his gaze wander round the courtyard. it was practically empty, except from one girl, whom appeared to be lacking somewhat in the clothing department, sitting on a bench. He cocked his head, and frowned. He hadn't seen her around. He knew nothing of her. Then again, he could say that about almost everyone in Beauxbatons, seeing as he wasn't exactly the most sociable of students.
Pressing against the leafy hedge, Serphius sunk to the ground, twigs scratching his back, and arms. He groaned softly, under his breath. It was horribly warm. It was making him feel quite sleepy...

A naturally arched eyebrow was raised, as chocolate eyes spotted someone else strolling. She grimaced slightly as she saw he was wearing black clothing. He was in her house, she had seen him a few times slipping away into the shadows. He wasn't in her year...what was it. Ah she couldn't think of it at the momment. Ashlei was always surprised by this fact, this kid was taller then her, most were for some reason here. She had thought she was tall at 5'10. This kid had to be 6 foot at least. Sine she knew he wasn't in her year, he had to be younger. Fine brows rose up at the same time, before settling back down again. She chuckled to herself as he sat down. He looked like he was about to pass out in all that black.
She brushed a stray brown curl behind her ear and parted her light peachy lips. Like she was about to say something. Ashlei isn't that social either, constantly cooped up at school doing homework. At home she was quite active and talkitive, at school her demeneur changed slightly in that catagory. She frowned for a momment, trying to decide if she should say anything or not. Before she knew it, these words popped out of her mouth. "Its hot out isn't it?" State the goddamn obivious! She had the urge to smack her forehead, instead she just threw bricks at herself in her thoughts. Quite amusing sometimes, although only she would ever know. She sighed and decided that she had better make up for that stupid comment.
"I'm Ashlei" A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. The entrails of her blush started to creep further onto her cheeks. Man, she was flustered. She tried thinking about something else for a few seconds, to try and cool down a bit. However she kept coming back to that idiotic comment she had made. She started to concentrate at picking at the hem of her skirt. Fingers tracing down the silver lines thoughtfully. Finally the rouge crept out of her cheeks and it went back it its normal soft fawn colour. She chanced a look up, chocolate eyes automatically finding the other person in the courtyard. She didn't expect an answer. She wouldn't have even answered herself. She probably would have laughed her ass off and walked away to find solace elsewhere.
Boy, was she in a muddle.

It took a moment for Serphius to figure out that it was actually him she was talking to. He blinked in mild surprise, and fumbled for something...normal to say. "Yes, it's...too warm, to say the least," He mumbled quietly, barely loud enough for her to be able to hear. He tipped his hat at her, courteously, and nodded, "My name's Serphius..."
Serphius tried to think why on earth she was talking to him. What did she want? It made him nervous when people paid attention to him, it always had. He took note of the faint blush that swelled momentarily in her cheeks, and it just puzzled him further. Was she too warm? Embarrassed? Shy? Staring at the ground by his feet, he frown. People confused him.

Ash suddenly felt very concious of her blouse being halfway pulled up. She fidgeted slightly, when she looked up as she heard his name she smiled. "At least your name is interesting"She muttered to herself. Ashlei...what a fucking common name. Her head tilted slightly, as his expression turned to one of confusion. There we go again. If she wasn't confusing someone with her knowledge it was the way she reacted to stuff. No wait...he was also nervous. Okay, so she wasn't the only one feeling akward.
"I know you are in my house, but what year are you?" Jeesh that question had been nagging at her. Her chocolate eyes on him again, this time she expected an answer. Her hands were clutching the sides of the stone bench, supporting most of her wieght as she leaned forward a bit to stretch out her lower back. She sat back up and leaned against the backing of the bench.

His name was what now? Interesting? Well, that was a new one on him. Serphius scratched the back of his head, cocking a dark eyebrow at Ashlei. What year was he in? Why did she want to know that? That wasn't exactly need to know information.
Strange girl.
"I'm in....sixth year..." He said slowly, lips scarcely moving as he did so. "Why would you say my name's interesting?"
He didn't think it was interesting. He thought it was quite normal. Serphius frowned. Someone told him once that it was the name of a star constellation, though, to be honest, he'd never heard of it before.
l'ooc; It's not short. And size doesn't matter. x D

"Sixth...that would be why I don't know you." She nodded her head slightly, as if confirming her statement in her head. Brown curls softly brushing against her high cheek bones. She bit the bottom of her lips slightly as he asked why she thought his name was interesting. Frankly, she didn't know. She just did. However, Ash had to come up with a valid answer. She knew that when she was thinking, or any other emtion, was played across her face like a movie. She couldn't help it though. Her face lit up as she found something to say.
"Well, going through life with a name as common as Ashlei, you tend to have an appreaciation for other names that you don't hear so often. I have never heard your name before. Its different." She smiled quite genuinely. Quite pleased with the answer she had come up with. She rapped her nails against the stone bench. Thats Ash for you, constantly moving. She wanted to keep this conversation moving.
"So what do you do for interest...like do you read?" Dumb question, but at least it would hopefully hold up the conversation. Everytime she asked a question, her right eyebrow would rise slightly, habit. When she was a little girl she had always thought it comical and just awesome. So for a full year she would do it all the time. Now it just became habit and she didn't even think of it. A hand came up to her eye as she flinched. A bug had flown into it. "Ick" she muttered when she could see again. Her eye now slightly bloodshot from rubbing it.

She moves a lot. It was another thing Serphius noted; that she fidgeted a lot, always shifting about. It distracted him somewhat.
"Read? Oh, er, yes, I do, actually...I read quite a lot. Why?" Serphius asked, as he popped the knuckles of his right hand individually, a nervous habit of his. "why do you want to know about me?"
l'ooc; Nyah! So short!

Ahah. She knew it. He does read. Who knows why Ash suspected it, but she had. Ash liked to play guess the person games in her head sometimes. His question however, made her chocolate brown eyes widen. Made her sit a little straighter. What an odd, and unexpected question! How the hell was she suposed to answer that without seeming like a stalker. She frowned slightly, eyes narrowing on her skirt as she began to stumble about on a response.
"Well...Uhm..I...Uh," she was stumbling horribly. Rouge started to rise in her cheeks yet again. "Your just...a shadow of a person...I want to see the person" Oh god that sounded so weird. That was it though. She was only intrigued to ask more questions because he was like a book to her. One that she couldn't read, so naturally she sought some other way to translate it. Thus, asking him pointless questions to try and grasp his different language. ((If that makes any sense at all xD)) Now he was deffinatly going to get up and leave. She had just totally gone all weird. That was probably why, even though Ash is a nice person, doesn't have any friends. People can't deal with the way she is.

Serphius nodded slowly, feeling flattered, yet slightly offended, and very much confused. So, she found him intresting...That was good, but she looked on him as oddity, to be questioned, poked at, like an exhibit at the zoo.
He nudged the corner of his hat, so he could see Ashlei better. Physically, he reminded her all too much of his sister. Tall, pretty, with a preference for short skirts and high riding shirts. He frowned, and shut his eyes momentarily, before opening them, and scrutinizing Ashlei's face. She seemed honest enough.
Shifting positions, Serphius folded his arms. After a moments silence, he said, "Is there anything else you want to know?"

My, my, what a funny kid. Constantly turning the tables on Ash. Well, at least he didn't run away screaming. A finely etched eyebrow raised yet again "Is there anything you are willing to tell me?" She turned the tables this time. Turning his question back on him. She stood up, skirt rippling across her thighs. She walked and sat to a bench closer to him. She was tired of yelling across the courtyard. She perched on her knee's, atop the stone seat. Her hands in her lap. Chocolate eyes watched him silently. Letting him think about her last question, before she started asking other kinds.
"To make it fair, you can ask me anything, question for a question...sound okay?" Instead of avoiding the point that he had made that she was being a little nosey. She focused on it, unlike any normal person, and kept prodding. Not having any close friends, almost made her like a little kid instead of a 17 year old. She licked her peach lips, waiting for his answer. The heat was starting to dehydrate her, and her lips were starting to dry out.

"My answers depend entirely on your questions. As for your proposition, well, to be honest, there isn't much I want to know about you. Not to sound rude, sorry." Serphius said, before holding up a pale hand to excuse himself whilst he coughed. The heat was making him dreadfully parched. Sorting himself, he looked back to her with a coy smile, and a cocked eyebrow. "So, Ashlei. Ask away..."
(Dang, wrong account, sorry)

She shrugged. If he didn't want to ask any questions, that was okay. Ash was just trying to make it fair. She bit the bottom of her lip as she thought again. Well, might as well start at the beggining. "Just so you don't feel like I am interrogating you completely, I will answer all the questions along with you" She smiled, and tucked another strand of chocolate brown hair behind her ear.
"Are you Pureblood, Muggle Born or Half?" She was indeed starting right at the begining. Ash was just strange like that. She liked to know peoples preferrences and past. Like a book she would scan them quite thoroughly. Perhapes for her own insecure reasons.
