Serphius held his head in his hands, covering his face. He was a fucking wreck, and looked like it too. How on earth could he tell her? If he did, where would he begin, and where would he stop? He couldn't tell her everything, oh no. Some skeletons were better kept in the closet...
Serphius fumbled for word. He didn't know what to say.
"I-I have...issues..." He said pathetically. Boy howdy, that was an understatment...The tears were stinging at those dark, soulful eyes, but she wouldn't be able to see them, with hair and hands in the way.
"I'm such a screw up..."

Ash's mouth made a little 'o' shape before she heard the last part. She frowned, and her hand reached out, but stopped just a few inches from his hands. They were covering his face, he was crying. Don't try and hide it, you talking with a girl who grew up with two brothers, one whom also has issues. Almost the exact opposite of Serphius's but in a way they did the same thing with their emotions. The tips of her fingers just grazed his knuckle then she brought her hand back to herself.
"Your not a screw up...no one is a screw up. You can do fucked up stuff, but your not a screw up" She said softly. Her hands were clasped together in her lap again. Her chocolate eyes staring up at him, trying to find his eyes through his hands and hair. "Your not..."

Serphius dug the heel of his palm into his eyes to get rid of the tears that were threatening, before just letting his hand drop into his lap, limp and pale.
"Don't...Just don't. You have no idea, you don't have a fucking clue. You don't know me..." He said bitterly. Serphius just wanted to go find a quite spot so he could repent this pain and confusing, and make everything seem better again.
Well, for a little while. Just a little while, but that was enough...

"Fine! You're a screw up then, a fucking failure in fucking society! At least I tried to be a friend!" She got up, and dusted her skirt off. She doesn't have a fucking clue...okay hint taken. She turned around and walked around a few corners in the courtyard. Behind a few hedges, she sat behind a hedge, her back pressed up against the stone wall. The green trees in front of her. Arms wrapped around her bare legs.
She felt bad for yelling at him, she didn't need to have. All she was trying to do was make him feel better. What the hell did he want her to do? Obliviously agree with him and leave him alone. Ash's finger nails were making cresent marks in her palms, as she realized she was going to start crying. She stopped, realizing she had been rocking. Hitting her back against the wall, I have no reason to be upset, she thought to herself. So she sat there, in numbed silence. Wondering what on earth, was her problem. Sitting out here in the dark, past curfew. Pissed off at some kid, that she had just made friends with that day.
O.o.c// Muwahahah! xDD

Oh boy, he'd really made a mess of things this time. Serphius gave a tight groan, and held his head in his hands again. He had made, and lost a friend in, what, two hours? Less than that? It had to be a record.
After a moment or two, he slid from the bench, to his feet, and looked around. He couldn't see where Ashlei had disappeared to.
"Ashlei...?" He called softly. Serphius brushed some of the hair from his face, and he laughed mirthlessly when he noticed his hands were shaking. What a mess...

Her chin had been resting on her knees, her gaze staring off into nothingness. She wasn't really thinking of anything, rather starting to enjoy the nights cool air pressing in on her skin. Her eyes closed for a momment, then re-opened as she heard her name being called. It was faint, but not that far off. Ash tilted her head, trying to remember who was calling her. Coming out of her little delerium, she sighed. That voice was Serphius. She waited a second, thinking about if she wanted to be found.
Then she remembered what she had said to him. A little harsh. "I'm over here" She said, her voice floating out from behind some hedges. She was sitting between them, and the stone wall pressed firmly against her back. The leaves of the hedge tickling her nose as she sat in the small cramped space that was behind the row. She stuck her hand out through the branches, and wiggled her fingers. If he was close by enough he would see her slender fingers. Her other hand was tucking her skirt around her. It had shifted up a little too much, and Ash realized how akward that would look.

Serphius had been looking the other way when Ashlei had stuck her fingers through the hedge, but he followed the sound of her voice. He wandered towards it, and sat on the opposite side of the hedge, legs crossed, hugging his knees to his chest.
"Ashlei..." He began, trying to think what to say, "I'm....I'm sorry...For snapping at you."

The dim moonlight filtered through the leaves, making only her lips visible through a thin part in the branches. The rest of her hidden in shadow, however she could see him. When he spoke she smiled, "I'm sorry for snapping back, and for digging to begin with" her soft voice came out. She couldn't stay mad at Serphius, he was way to upset with himself all the time for that. The last thing he needed was for one of his friends becoming impatient and freaking out back at him.
"Your not a screw up though" She whispered, half to herself. She broke a leaf off and began tearing at it absentmindedly.

Serphius didn't have a reply for that. He put his chin on his knees, and looked up at the sky. It was blue-ish, shot with gold, and pink, and yellows and wonderful oranges from the setting sun. It was wonderfully quiet for a moment of so, and the sunset started to dull, and the colours gave way slowly to a soothing inky darkness, like the colour of his eyes.
"It's getting cold," He mumbled, looking at the hedge that separated them.

She smirked at his statement. "Indeed, it is" She said, she crawled out from behind the hedge. A leaf stuck in her chocolate curls. She sat beside him, then lay back. Her head laying on the feeble grass, her eyes looking up at the sky. The stars trying to shine through the inky blackness, however, the sun was just under the horizen and the stars wouldn't fully appear till later. She sighed, the sound escaping her soft lips. She tilted her head, and looked over at the schools amber lights, shining from the windows.
She didn't feel like going in there. Yet, she knew it was past curfew deffinatly now and she was supposed to be in their common room. She turned her head, and looked at Serphius's back. At his funky looking trilby, she was happy he was her friend. She was happy that she had made a friend at all. She lay there, studying him from behind, her head proped on her elbow.

Serphius looked over his shoulder at Ashlei, and raised an eyebrow.
"If I had a coat, I'd give it to you..." He said meekly, "But I don't...Sorry..." Serphius turned his gaze forward again, uncrossing his legs, stretching them out, and laying back aswell, propped up on his bony elbows. He looked up at the sky, and his hat slipped off. But he didn't notice - he was looking at the first of the few starts, like silver pin picks in the sky.

Ash smiled, as he spoke, then lay back beside her. Propped up on his elbows, he was just a little higher then herself. Since she had her head in her palm, and her elbow propping that up. "It's okay, I am not cold" She looked back up at the sky. Her chocolate gaze sweeping about the stars, then her eyes lit up.
"Your name..it has to do with the stars" She said, smiling. That is why she had thought his name interesting, at the time she couldn't remember why. She was sure now, that it had to do with the stars. Almost positive. Maybe she was wrong. She picked up his hat, and looked at it. Then set it on his lap.

Serphius nodded, chewing thoughtfully on his pouty lower lip, "Mm, yeah. A star, or a constellation, or something along those lines. I don't know where about it is up there," He waved his hand in the general direction of the dark sky, and shrugged, "I don't know, really..."
