A lone figure was to be seen in the Staff Room in that moment, lounged in an arm chair by the fire, biting his nails. An old child hood habit, he supposed...
The new Potions Master was free. Finally.
He had been working all day, fixing up his office and classroom, organizing papers and work for the new term, and writing and posting class sign-up sheets everywhere. May not seem like a lot, but it takes quite a bit of stamina to do it all day long.
Now he was free to do whatever he wanted; until he had to go to bed, get up and do all of the above over again. Oh well, that's why it was called work.
There was a thick book in Braeden's lap, it's yellowed pages and small writing visible as he scanned it. He was bored, and for some strange reason his mind was uneasy. He guessed that it was the insecurity of being so new...
Sleep so early, for it was only nine o'clock at most, was obviously not an option, and he couldn't concentrate on the book he was reading. He was simply glancing at the pages, before turning the page without taking any of it in.
When the book, which had gradually been slipping off his lap, fell to the fluffy carpet, the Head of Lioano didn't even try to pick it up; his eyes were on the fire, it's tongues flickering, reflected in his eyes.

Carmen opened the big, wooden door to the Staff Room. She yawned and stepped in, smiling to herself. She walked over to a large table and pulled out a tea-cup. Then she opened some cup-boards with some tea packs in them. 'Hmmm...which one?' she thought as she scanned the different tea. The Divination teacher finally chose the mint tea. Yes, she enjoyed minty things.
She pulled out a package, put it in her cup, poured some hot water into the cup and lifted it, bringing it to a large table for the staff. She sat down, placing the cup lightly onto the table. She then spotted Braeden. "Ah, hello. You must be the new Potions Proffesor." she said with a smile.

Braeden, away in his own little world, didn't hear Carmen Otality, the Divination Professor, slide into the room, and was only alerted to her presence by the light clink of her glass. His head remained down, and he continued to stare into the fire until she spoke.
"Ah, hello. You must be the new Potions Professor."
Brae looked up and over, coughed, and said, "Yeah, that's me. And which class would you teach?" Not much of an answer, but still. She'd gotten him to talk.
{Bleargh. xD Awful.}

"Divination. But I doubt anyone will sign up for my classes. Divination isn't exactly the best class ever" she told him in dismay. It's true. In her past years she'd never really received any dedicated students for her classes. Only students who needed some extra credit to pass school which was very sad for her because she loved having students actually like her classes. She only wanted to teach. Not very hard. She looked up with a smile. "Well, no need to sulk" the twenty-one year old said. "So, how long have you been teaching for?" she asked Braedan as she eyed the book on her lap. She looked away from the book and lifted the tea-cup to her lips, tipping it. The nice, hot minty tea poured into her mouth.

Darien left his office, sealing it shut behind him. He had left Katrina inside, asleep, and had decided to come down here to the staff room. Heck, he needed to see if he could meet any fellow staff members, and he was bored out of his mind.
So he opened the door into the Staff Room as a voice greeted his ear. "Divination. But I doubt anyone will sign up for my classes. Divination isn't exactly the best class ever." He looked around, seeing a male and a female. The voice had belonged to the female, and she continued speaking.
"Well, no need to sulk." "So, how long have you been teaching for?" He smiled as he stepped into the room, nodding to both of them. He headed to a chair and sat down, conjuring a glass of coffee out of the air. He sipped from it, deciding it needed sugar and cream. He pointed his wand at it and cream poured into it, followed by sugar.
He then took a large swig and decided it was much better. He looked over at his two fellow staff members, wondering their names. He knew the female taught Divination. Possibly Potions for the male? Well, he'd find out soon enough, he hoped.

Elizabeth had just finished up playing her piano and straightening things up. She had left Demon asleep in his bed, and she had left her book laying on her bedside table, waiting for her when she returned. She had just decided to take a short trip down to the Staff Room. She wanted to check it out, and she wanted a nice cup of hot tea. Sadly, she didn't have anything available to make tea yet. She needed to work on that. Conjured tea just wasn't as good...
So she opened the door quietly, shutting it behind her. Hearing voices, she turned, looking around. There were three professors here already. Two males and a female. She smiled and headed over to a cabinet, opening it and grabbing a tea packet. She went for the herbal tea, just a touch of spice. She had a cup waiting, and she placed the tea bag into it, filling it with hot water. She turned and looked over her fellow staff members, curiosity getting the better of her. She threw the tea bag away once it was good enough and sipped idly from it, leaning against the counter.

Brae raised his eyebrows at her mention of 'sulking', but ignored it, and replied, "I've been teaching for... so far... a day. But I haven't actually taught any potions; the teahing term doesn't start for more than six weeks yet. The students all have summer holiday until then..."
He didn't really know what she felt with people not turning up for her classes, because he knew that students would pick potions as a lesson to go to for the simple fact that they needed it for almost every job available.
Charms, Potions and Transfiguration were like the wizard equivalent to English, Maths and Science lessons in the fact that you had to take them.

Post by Headmistress Adeline Darcy on Jul 4, 2006 11:22:09 GMT -5
The new, young Headmistress had had a pretty laid-back day.
For the first hour or two of her day (which, by the way, started at six o'clock in the morning), she had been writing notes and reminders for professors and students. Then she had trooped around the school, pinning the notes in the staff room, dining hall, and common rooms' note-boards, as well as on some Professors' office or classroom doors.
Then she took Ice-Eyes, her wolf, outside, and made notes on th size of the land and what things she could add to the grounds. She went back to the castle after that, fixing up time-tables for the new year that had just started at the beginning of the holidays in her office, had a quick nap and decided to go down to the staff room and remind more professors of their duties or so on.
Yeah, laid-back.
The twenty-six year old woman was wearing, today, a pair of smart black trousers. The top half of her body was covered with a white blouse, the top three buttons of which were open and the sleeves were cut off at the elbow. Her blond hair was tied back in a curly ponytail, revealing her shining, pretty face, the hair of which, as she walked down the hall, was swaying from side to side. There was a pleased smile on her face. She was especially happy because she had gotten quite a lot of things over and done with, including those damn notes that had been haunting her all week.
Adeline said the password, and entered the Staff Room, giving everyone inside, including a few new teachers that she wasn't so familiar with, a pleasant smile. "Good afternoon, everyone! Did you get my reminders, to make your class sign-ups?" she asked, moving to the sofa that was next to the armchair that Braeden was lounging in.

Darien looked up as another professor entered the room, this time a female. Maybe about 21, 22... 23 at the most. She was around the age of the other one, that was certain. He wasn't sure how old the male was, or if he was close to his age. Maybe he'd get lucky enough to find out someday.
Then yet another female entered the room, this time it being the Headmistress. He smiled at her after she greeted them all with a smile, seeing her sit on a sofa beside the male. He nodded to her, sipping from his coffee, and waited.
When she spoke, he set his coffee on his leg, holding it still, just more loosely. "Yes, I got the note. I've posted a sign up sheet already. I don't have many signatures, but I'm hoping more are to come..." He waited for the others to speak.

Elizabeth watched as the Headmistress entered, returning her smile with one of her own. She waited as she sat down, walking over to find an empty chair of her own. It was next to the newer male, Darien, though she didn't know any of them just yet. She just new the Headmistress, as she'd went to her to apply for the job.
"Yes, I've posted a sign up sheet. I have quite a few students signed up already, but I think I'll be getting more, as not all of the students have signed up." She sipped from her tea, waiting for the others to reply. Here was her chance to get to know them just a little bit.

The Care of Magical Creatures teacher and Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher told her that they had, but Braeden, who had bent down to pick up his book, hadn't heard Adeline speak. She replied to Darien. "Oh, yes, it's always like that at the beginning of the school year. Some students have to really be pushed to sign up; I've dreaded time of year for quite a while, Professor Edwards." A light laugh left her mouth.
"Professor Braeden?" She called his name, and repeated her question. This time he nodded.
"Next year, I'll probably get a professional teacher in to do apparition lessons... I'm not sure what the previous Headmaster did about that training..." the woman mused aloud.

"Oh, erm...I need to put them up. I'll do it as soon as I get back" Carmen said to the new arrivals. She came them smiles and then went on to her tea. Carmen felt small because she was so young. 21. How young to teach. They probably thought she was some amateur or something. Not worthy of teaching at their school. She'd show them. She'd show them that she was a fabulous teacher. Fashion and beauty weren't....everything in her life. She had....other...important things to worry about.
