Adeline smiled at Carmen. "It's okay. I'm sorry for nagging, I suppose, I just like things to get done. Then we can all just relax and enjoy the holidays. That's what I always do, anyway." She shrugged as she said this.
The Headmistress would never think that about Professor Otality. She believed that age didn't really make a difference; hey, if it did, she might not have been there. She was pretty young herself.
"So, what have you all been doing today? I assume that you all know each other... I, of course, know you all from the interviews for your jobs... Anyhow, I'm Adeline Darcy."

Elizabeth, of course, didn't think that of Carmen. She, herself, was only 23. Two years older. Wow, such a big difference.
"I don't believe I've met any of you besides Adeline..." She lowered her tea to her lap, holding it with both hands. It was quite warm, and it kept her hands nice and warm. "I am Elizabeth James, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor..."
She sipped from her tea again, appreciating the warm liquid soothing her throat. It felt better, and she patiently waited for the others to speak.

Darien, of course, didn't think that of Carmen. His own sister had been teaching since she had left school. He had been exploring the world, learning more about magical creatures. He had stayed with dragons for the longest, enjoying them the most.
"I just arrived, so I don't know anyone, really. Well, besides you, Adeline..." He paused and sipped from his coffee. He set it down against his leg, keeping his hand around it, his thumb through the loop. "I'm Darien Edwards. Care of Magical Creatures."

Feeling a pair of eyes on him (the Headmistress's, he guessed.), Braeden sighed and said, "Braeden Andrews, Potions," before looking back at his book, the book of which was still on the same page as it had been ten minutes ago.
Adeline eyed him carefully. He had always been very mysterious; well, he had since she gave him the job- she wouldn't have known before. He often had that faraway look in his eyes, did Braeden, and Adeline often wondered if he was sad, upset, or had suffered some sort of great pain in his life. She didn't know now, though, if he had, and probably never would.
Oh well. At least she could try being pleasant.
The Headmistress got out her wand suddenly, and, seeing everyone else with their cups and mugs, asked, "Would you like a cup, Braeden?"
She received a, "No, thank you," but at least she wasn't ignored. Adeline sighed, and asked, "Would anyone like a refill?" Sure, they could all conjure tea themselves, but the least she could do was ask, right?

Elizabeth smiled at Adeline and said,"Sure! I could use a refill. Thank you." She set her cup on her lap, holding it. She looked at the males. So the newer one was Care of Magical Creatures, and the other was Potions. She'd remember that.

"Erm, no thank you. My cups still full" Carmen replied politelly. She was getting a liking to these teachers. They all seemed so...nice and well mannered. Well...not really Braedan. He seemed....mysterious. That's why she wanted to get to know him better. Maybe open his heart alittle.

Dairen looked up at Adeline and smiled, setting down his cup after he had taken a huge gulp. He swallowed and said,"Yes, please. Thank you for offering, Adeline. It's really very kind of you." He looked over at Braeden. Hmm. A very quiet and rather unpleasant fellow he seemed to be, but looks could be deceiving. Maybe they could get him to open up a little...

Adeline stood up, and filled up Elizabeth's cup, wand tilted, hot liquid pouring out of it quickly. She turned to Darien, slightly surprised, although pleased, at his amount of thanks. "It's okay, my pleasure." Then she filled his cup, as well, before taking a seat on the couch again.
"So, there's quite a few new teachers here. Are you all enjoying your time here?"

Elizabeth smiled and said,"Thank you," as she refilled her cup. She watched her sit down and she sipped from her tea.
"Yes. It's been rather enjoyable. I expect it will be a bit moreso once the classes start?" She sipped from her tea once more, waiting to hear any other answers from the others.

He smiled and said,"Thank you very much." He watched as she sat down, sipping from his coffee. It had plenty of cream and sugar already.
"Yes, actually. It's been quite enjoyable... It's quieter than I would have thought, but most of the students seem to have gone outside for the day."

Carmen nodded her head, smiling. "Yes, quite enjoyable. All the students are quite the nice ones. Nicest I've seen in my two years of teaching" she replied, sipping her tea. She then let her eyes wander over all the teachers. All so different yet so the same and familiar. Strange really. Then her eyes fell onto Braeden. She looked over his face. Looked like a nice fellow.

Adeline laughed, glancing at Elizabeth. "It will be, so long as you get a good class!"
"Yes, a lot of students prefer going outside the school in the holidays, instead of staying inside. It makes me wonder slightly why they stay at school..." She shrugged. "I've yet to explore outside yet myself, but I would like to. From what I saw out of my office window, the flowers are blooming nicely.
Adeline looked over at Carmen, and replied, "I quite know what you mean. There's been one or two incidents, but the students this year do seem to be a good lot."
Yes, Braeden was nice by look. Heck, decent personality if you got him to show it once in a while. Still, for now, he was staying silent.

Elizabeth grinned and said,"They'll be a good group... If they aren't, they'll find out just how serious Defense Against the Dark Arts is... I'm pretty sure they'd listen then." She winked at her.
Darien nodded and said,"I haven't been able to explore the grounds yet, either... I plan on doing so later, once I've settled in and everything. It's just going to take some time..."
