Cringing, one Professor Braeden Andrews slammed into his bright classroom, flicking his wand at a white switch on the wall. Rows of lights and lamps on the wall flickered to life, and the man began to hurriedly snatch piles of papers off of desks, as well as several large, thick books. These he paused with, before shrugging and shoving them onto his own desk, on the shelves above it or on a big bookshelf in the corner of the room.
He was so, so late. There was seven minutes and thirty-three (no, thirty-two. Thirty one! Nooooo!) seconds exactly until his first ever lesson started, and he still had to write all of the trips and groups information on the board! Oh, God, this was awful... You would expect the students to get there with this sort of time to spare, not the professor, for sweet Merlin's sake!
At least this wasn't a proper lesson to be taught, though. The children didn't have to wear their uniforms - seen as it was technically still the summer holidays, and there was only a small, insignificant piece of homework to be set, with no real consequence if returned incomplete.
Quickly grabbing a pen, Braeden began to quickly scribble down instructions and information onto the white-board in the squeaky black ink, his usually large, swirly handwriting a tiny, neat scrawl. His normal writing was just too hard to read from a distance. He stepped back when he was finished, his green eyes flicking back and forth as he read what was written;
Students,
My name is, of course, Professor Braeden Andrews. I will be taking your class and teaching you for the next few years or so.

I personally apologize for the lack of tutors and overwhelming number of people needing help.
When he had finished reading over the information, he moved around his desk and sat down in the chair behind it, lounging in it comfortably and waiting for the students to arrive. He knew they would come; the punishment was detention for a week if they missed the partner lesson, unless injured.
{I picked the lists and partners randomly, writing their names on pieces of paper and picking them from a hat, by the way.}

Again, it had failed to surprise Mirabelle that the new Potions teacher had done something like this. Their first potions lesson wasn't even at the start at the term, for God's sake, it was bang at the end of their holidays! Who the hell in their right mind intrudes on student's holidays?
Still, the young Intermise was moving down the Ice Pass as quickly as she could possibly go without slipping in her comfortable black school shoes, and knocked briefly on the classroom door before rushing into the warmth. She didn't quite need a weeks detention for making such a stupid mistake of not attending, however unfair the time was.
She was wearing a thin, pale blue jumper and plain black trousers. Enough to keep her warm in Ice Pass, but not to be boiling. Aiming a small smile at Professor Andrews, who stood up when she entered, she strode further into the clean, bright room, and took a seat in the center of it, at a single desk.
Belle placed her note book and pen on the table, and slid neatly into the plastic chair stationed behind it, crossing her arms and reading the board. When finished, she sat waiting patiently for more people to come so that she could make sense of who else was in her group.
{Lame. BUT OH WELL.}

"Stupid... frigging teacher... what's he playing at... class on a holiday..." Muttered, annoyed words left the young Intermise prefect's mouth as she hurried down the steps into Ice Pass, the cursed dungeon corridor. Her sister happened to be a few paces behind her, the younger twin hurriedly brushing her blond locks.
The two were both dressed in plain jeans. Roxie was wearing a blue jumper similar to Mirabelle's, and Scarlet was wearing a tiny little vest top with a thick jacket over the top. Stupid freezing hall...
They were a little late but not overly so, for Scarlet could see no others ahead. She pushed into the classroom, flinging open the door and holding it for enough time that Roxie could grab it before it slammed shut in her face. Unlike Mirabelle's smile at Professor Andrews, both girls shot him a glare as they sat at opposite sides of the classroom from each other, annoyed as he simply smirked straight back.
The twins quickly scanned the white board, searching for their names, which groups they were in and who they were in them with. Scarlet inwardly groaned; for the first two trips she was with people she didn't even know, and for the third one she would have to face her brother. Oh, this was just great. Not.
Roxie, on the other hand, was over the moon. For the first trip she was with Jon, the second with his sister - who had to be friendly, from what Jon had told her - and the third with Mirabelle! She guessed she just got lucky. Sneaking a glance at the dismayed Scarlet, her grin grew wider. Obviously Scarlet hadn't.

Tina, unlike the twins, didn't really mind this class. Sure, it was still the holidays, technically, but she had begun to get a little bored. She didn't know many people, and she had done just about every decent activity and visited every place that she could have fun at by herself.
At least she'd speak to someone today.
Also, uniform wasn't required, which was definitely a good thing. Actually, Christina was beginning to think that it wasn't, as she tottered down the steps to the dungeon corridor in her high-heeled, leather boots. As soon as she placed one boot-clad foot on the iced stone floor, she slipped, and had to grab the banister of the steps to steady herself.
As well as being almost impossible to walk on, the corridor was uncomfortably cold. It was warm outside, warm enough for Tina to dress in a strip of denim material - one which she called a skirt - and a crimson t-shirt, with no jacket. Now she really wished that she'd bought a jacket along with her. She placed one hand on the wall as she took another shaky step forward, trying not to slide, but nearly fell again as she snatched her hand away in pain. It was like trying to grip an ice cube.
Eventually, she was able to throw herself at the freezing door handle, which she clung to as if it were a block of solid gold. Turning it, she hurried into the classroom, breathing a contented sigh at the hot air. Mmm, warmth.
Tina, getting her balance back on the heels, walked over to one of the desks next to a blonde, pretty seventh year- Mirabelle. Tina smiled at Intermise as she sat down, a pen clutched in her hand. "I'm Christina-Daniella," she said, still smiling. "Hi. What's your name?" She glanced at the girl at the other side of Mirabelle, who she had seen before. Roxie.
Belle looked back at her, with a welcoming smile of her own. "I'm Mirabelle. Nice to meet you, Christina."
Tina's eyes scanned the board, and she spoke again. "Do you know the people in your groups? I don't. I'm not in any of yours. Have you got a piece of paper I could borrow, please? For notes and things?" The Intermise nodded at the request for paper, and picked up her notebook, replying,
"I know a couple of people. Like my friend Roxie." Belle motioned at the blonde sitting on the other side of her. "She's in my first and third group. I know Jonathan Halliwell, too. Not that well, mind you, but he's Head Boy, and I'm Head Girl, so our paths have crossed briefly. And I know Sonata."
"Hmm," Christina thought. "Jonathan is my tutor for this lesson. Is he nice? He won't yell at me, will he?" She looked slightly worried at this, and Roxie cut in.
"No, he won't," the younger Fina said, sounding absolutely sure. "He won't yell at you. Jon's nice. He's my friend." Christina smiled at this. Hopefully he would be patient. Hey, if he wasn't, there would be a bit of a problem.
Mirabelle pulled a piece of paper neatly from her notebook, and passed it across the aisle to Tina. The Fina frowned, and said, "Thank you. Don't ruin your notebook, though." The two smiled, and Christina seemed pleased that she had found a friend, rather than someone willing to insult her, for once. It felt good.

Alexander Aindrea, however, had not come along to Ice Pass - the coldest place in the entire school - and made the same dress mistake as all four girls. He was wearing a pair of long, thick jeans, a white shirt, a leather jacket and a heavy black cloak to cover the whole thing.
Sure, the cloak didn't look the best, but he could always take it off. He was also wearing a pair of white trainers, and got through the corridor easily in them.
Twisting the door handle, he was met with the sight of a small group of people that he didn't know. There were two twin sixth year girls, the Head Girl whose name was something Miette, and a stunning seventh year Fina beside her, playing idly with a heart-dotted piece of paper. But no Aimee, and thankfully, no Adam.
Alex strode to the very back of the classroom, his teeth chewing on a piece of chewing gum in an almost robotic movement. He awkwardly pulled the black cloak off, dumping it on the back of the chair, and sat down, gray eyes turning to the board to read the information displayed.
He was reasonably pleased with first group. He was with Aimee, after all. His eyes narrowed slightly though, as the name Anastasia rang a bell in his head. He'd heard that name before... he liked it, but it made him feel slightly uneasy. Who was it?
The answer came to him in a rush of memory. "Hey, stranger. Come on. Come get a drink with me..." The light touch of a hand on his thigh... Intermise trouble-maker... The feel of unfamiliar lips pressed against his... The sound of a small, very familiar sob...
Alexander shook his head, blinking. Oh fuck... It was her. The girl from the bar. In his damn group, for the love of God. Aimee probably wouldn't recognize her, so... Oh, man. He was going to have to tell his girlfriend that the girl that had almost ripped their relationship apart was back, and was going to be not just in their class, but with them when they left the school for the trip, too.
This day was just turning out to be great, wasn't it?
Alexander lifted his dark head as the group of girls in front of him. The pretty one, the one with the tiny skirt on, turned to the Head Girl, and muttered excitedly, "Who's he? The guy that just came in? Is he in my group?"
Mirabelle turned to the Fina, "Yes, he is. That's Alexander Aindrea, Christina. He's got a girlfriend." She said the last part warningly, but Christina just grinned with a shrug, unaware that Alex could hear their conversation.
"So?"
This caused both Belle and Roxie to roll their eyes, smiling all the same. But Christina hadn't finished. She spoke once more, doodling little hearts around the edges of her piece of paper with her pink-inked gel pen. "He's fit, though, isn't he? Tall and dark, with really bright gray eyes..." She seemed to drift away a little, then, dropping her pen onto the table and propping up her head on her hand.
Alex then leaned forwards a little, grinning cheekily, and said, "Thanks, gorgeous." He couldn't help it. It was, like, a reflex. A trap!
Christina jumped and turned around, a light flush coloring her cheeks, and replied, with a smile of her own, "You're so very welcome, Alexander." Mirabelle rolled her eyes again, but couldn't help smiling and murmuring, "Obviously he doesn't care much, either."
Alex leaned back in his chair, and resigned to turning his gray eyes and staring at the door, watching Tina sneak glances at him through the corner of his eye, waiting for Aimee to arrive, as he knew she would.

Post by Felicia de la Ravin - R.I.P on Aug 19, 2006 8:05:08 GMT -5
Felicia had never been one for the cold. She had always preferred the warmth, which was one reason she loathed the Ice Path. Another reason was that at the end of the Ice Path, there was the creepy Storeroom, where Charlie had found that shriveled hand, and also, to her dismay, Prof. Andrew's classroom. Like the majority of the school, she regarded Andrews as a cranky git, the worst teacher of a bad bunch. Scowling thoughtfully to herself, she pulled her long black cloak closer to her thin frame. The heels of her white boots clicked appealingly on the icy ground beneath her. Despite the danger of slipping, she walked with an easy, quick pace. She wasn't planning on getting detention, especially not with him. Felicia approached the door, and quietly pushed it open, shutting it softly behind her. She said nothing, feeling utterly drained after a light night's work, and paused before the board to glance over what was written. Upon reading the Summer groups, a small smile spread on her pink lips, rose by the sudden change in temperature, much like her cheeks. Still smirking, she turned swiftly from the front of the class, to sit in the furthest away corner, ignoring everyone, and watching the door with a blank face and mild interest. Why was she even here?

Smiling, Adelle Dario skipped down the stairs to Ice Pass. She didn't particularly mind the class, either. Like Christina, she felt it was just something for her to do. Reaching the edge, she slipped, and in cartoon-style, fell straight over, landing on the last frozen step.
She groaned. Oh God... Feels like I've broke my bum... she thought, annoyed. Hearing footsteps above her, she looked up to see a blond haired guy staring down at her in mild surprise. "You alright?" he asked, giving her his hand. She took it, with a nod and grateful smile.
She glanced at him. He was wearing a long sleeved t-shirt in green, and a pair of thick black trousers, well clothed for journeying through Ice Pass, damn thing. She was, also, in her black school shoes, jeans and thick black jumper with the turtle neck. Her blue, fur-lined school cloak was keeping her especially warm, and she hugged it around herself.
"I'm Adam," he said, and she told him her own name, year and house. She walked to the door, careful not to slide, and held it open for him as she entered. He followed behind her, with an almost inaudible murmur of thanks.
Adelle took a seat next to a girl she knew was named Scarlet, placing her small bag on the floor at her feet. She smiled at her neighbour, and glanced up at the board. She was all alone again. God, she missed her brother sometimes...
Adam, glancing nervously in Alex's direction, took a seat at the desk in front of Felicia's, and glanced at the board himself. First trip he was by himself, not knowing anyone in that group. The second almost made him groan out loud he was with Alex, Aimee, Charlie and Felicia. Great. That was going to be uncomfortable. And third, he was with his sister, Scarlet.
Oh, joy.

Serphius scratched the back of his head, and sighed, "Well, my friend," He said, voice little more than a murmur, "Looks like we ain't in any groups together." The dark haired boy beside him, dressed in a casual suit of violet velvet and a blue ribbon in those spiky black locks pouted. Lexi twiddled the ring in his lip, looking a little disappointed.
"Oh, looks like you're in with Felicia and...and Asmodeus in one of them too....I'm only stuck with Felicia once....Glad it's not him I'll be with. But I will miss you, as you very well know."
"Oh, Sephy, please don't rub it in. I don't even really know your brother, and I hate him already...Ooh, looky, I have a tutor...Who's that? Mirabelle Miette?"
Serphius pulled a puzzled face, and turned away from Alexys, looking for two empty seats. Seeing as they were still relatively early, it was quite easy. he stayed away from the back of the classroom, as he knew Felicia was lurking there. Sitting down, and unclasping his black cloak, he looked up with dark eyes, "I don't know. You know I don't."
Lexi sat down beside him, and held his pretty head in his hands, heaving a sigh, "Why did I let you take me here? This is insufferable!"
"I dragged you here because I'm not going to let you get chucked in proverbial prison for not showing up. It's bad enough that you insist on bunking off almost all your other classes....But you can't, not with Andrews. He'll skin you alive!"
Alexys gave a small, airy laugh, and gave Serphius a charming, reassuring smile, "Oh, I would love to see him try, Sephy, wouldn't you?"
Serphius rolled his eyes when Lexi entertained himself by carving pretty little designs in the desk top with his ancient little pocketknife, and let his mind wander whilst he waited for the "lesson", whatever it may be, to start.

"Whatcha drawing?" The slightly high, rather cheerful sounding voice of Roxie McElroy, sitting beside her, rang out, aimed in the direction of Christina.
The blonde seventh year Fina lifted her head at the question, and replied, finishing off a corner of a messily scribbled star on her page with a flourish, "Just doodling. Waiting for Andrews to tell us stuff we need to make a note of." She glanced sheepishly at the paper, which was now covered in hearts, curly-whirlies and stars, the occasional A.A surrounded with a small circle. Not much space for notes.
Mirabelle glanced at her new friends work and grinned, ripping out another two pages and passing them to her. "For notes," she said. "I like your hearts." She smiled, and her head suddenly shot up as she heard her name spoken, as well as, 'tutor'.
Her eyes fell upon a brightly dressed young man, and, blinking, she called back, "Did you mention me? Are... are you Alexys, by any chance?" Both girl's next to her turned around also, to stare in the direction that she was.

When someone mentioned his name, Alexys looked up, slightly confused, still clutching the small knife in one hand. When he say who it was that was talking to him, a pretty blonde girl he assumed was Miette, he snapped it shut.
"Ah yes, Alexys Prso, but you, my dear, can call me Lexi. Miss Miette, I presume?" Alexys's voice was light, polite and utterly charming. He flashed her the smallest of smiles and brushed a stand of black hair from his pale sable eyes, "You are going to be my new tutor? Wonderful. Is that in all subjects, or just potions? Ha, not that it matters much...."
Serphius, from his relaxed position at Alexys's side gave a small laugh, "Mm, too right," He said under his breath, with a small grin.

Mirabelle nodded, and smiled. "Mirabelle, but you can call me Belle. Everyone else does, after all." She paused for a small moment, to simply shrug. "It may be just Potions, but I don't know. It depends on the teacher. What's your name?" The last part was aimed at Serphius, of course.
There was a small silence, in which Christina-Daniella took her chance to introduce herself, with a small, brief, "Hi. I'm Tina." And a grin of her of her own. Roxie also introduced herself.
Before the boys had time to answer, though, they felt impatient taps on their shoulders. They turned, to find themselves face-to-face with Professor Andrews, who gave them a disapproving look before tossing a dark purple, empty work book on each of the tables, for them to write notes in. Tina shrugged, Roxie stared at her table, and Belle muttered an inaudible apology.
Braeden moved from table to table, giving the chatting groups looks as well as carelessly tossing the colored work books onto the flat surfaces. The man couldn't help but notice that 'thank you's were rare to come by with this class.

"Serphius. Serphius de la Ravin," Serphius said, a little stiffly, frowning at the workbook before him.
Alexys, however, sniffed haughtily, "Is that old man Andrews? Oh, I don't see what all the fuss is about. He seams as fierce a Claret..." Ignoring the book in front of him, he picked moodily at the white lace cuff of his suit jacket.
Just as he had finished the sentence, the door to the classroom opened once more, and two figures bustled into the room. One was male, the other female. Both were quite tall, with unkempt blonde hair. The girl was Charlie Sonata, dressed in smart, pretty green robes that matched her eyes, and the other was Asmodeus. Charlie thanked Asmodeus for helping her down the Ice Patch, and wandered happily to the back of the classroom, taking a seat beside her best friend, Felicia. Almost immediately, giggles could be heard drifting from the back. They made quite a pair.
Asmodeus, on the other hand, was smiling quite casually. Serphius had tensed up, and was sitting with his eyes firmly locked onto the scarred desk before him. With each footstep, he cringed, until the dark clad blonde boy was standing beside him. He crouched down, face close to his. He murmured something, smiling all the while, before slowly, and deliberately pressing his lips to Serphius's skin, and murmuring, "Little brother, take care, darling little brother..." He wandered off to a row or two behind them, and sat down quietly.
Serphius was even paler than before, and looked slightly sick, swaying gently. Alexys had seen the whole thing, and looked quite concerned. He place a soothing hand on his friends arm, to see if he was alright. Serphius remained completely silent.

Mirabelle shifted back in her seat again, turning back around to face Alexys as he spoke once more. "He's not so bad, really. Just grumpy. And strangely quiet... I can't believe that he and the Headmistress are taking us on a trip... Have you met Darcy? She's incredibly talkative, nothing like this guy at all. Wonder how they'll get on..."
Christina spoke again at that. "She's supposed to be dating our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, I think. The Headmistress, I mean. Professor Edwards... But I doubt it. It could be true, though." Trust her to come out with something like that.
She fell silent as the door opened, her eyes fixed on the male that came in- of course. This was Tina, remember? She was hardly going to have her blue eyes fixed on the girl, was she? The guy walked over to Serphius, and the three girls watched the odd scene silently. When he wandered off behind them, Roxie resisted to ask, "He's your brother?!", instead staying quiet at the sight of Serphius' face. It had obviously bothered the poor guy.
After another moment of silence, Belle coughed awkwardly and turned around, pulling the other girls with her. It was rude and uncomfortable to stare, after all. The Head Girl picked up her pen with another small cough, and wrote her name, year, professor and house on the front of the work book.
