"Oh, but it did!" Charlie insisted, turning her head once more so she could look at him in the face, "What happened to me...what happened to Felicia...possibly even why Lioano was the house targeted, and not the others...She won't let me rest in peace! She can't have me being happy! August, bloody August! We share blood, and we share hate, though why she despises me so, I do not know. Perhaps she blames what happened on me...Perhaps she's just a poor lost soul. I don't know, I don't care. I hate her! She hates me, and I hate her back!"
Charlie's cheeks were coloured with her old burning anger, her famous temper as she fumed about her sister. How dare she do what she did! It wasn't her fault Father decided to do what he did! It wasn't her fault that Mother reacted the way she did! None of it had been her fault!
...Right?
"She murdered my best friend, and she made me watcheverything, every agonizing minute of it! I could even close my eyes when she was tortured, I had to watch her life drain away! It was all my fault!"

"Stop it!" Adam snapped. "If it was really all about you, then why did they attack everyone else? If it was really just you, then why did they attack me? If it was your fault, the Death Eaters would've just targeted your room, wouldn't they? They wouldn't have killed the others, the wouldn't have stabbed the Headmistress, they wouldn't have hurt Alexander... It was just a spiteful attack by a load of nasty bastards with murder in their hearts, for God sake..." He shook his head.
"Sure, maybe the people in your room did it for revenge, yeah, on you, but I didn't know the guy that came in my room. Alex didn't know his. It was just an attack, Charlie. Just an attack. None of it was your fault; heck, you just admitted that yourself! This August, she killed Felicia, not you. You just said it. You were there, you were forced to watch, yeah, but you didn't do it!"
He stopped, breathing a little heavily from all the agitated rambling he'd been doing to try and get his point across. He was exhausted, all of a sudden, head throbbing unpleasantly, and leaned back against the bench again, staring back at Charlie sternly, and silently. Bracing himself for whatever the fiery Lioano female was going to shoot at him next, Adam closed his eyes, waiting for the outburst and trying to ignore all the flashing lights behind his closed eyelids.
{OMG. Ramble ramble. xD I HATE THIS POSSSST.}

Charlie flexed her fingers, and stared angrily at the ground.
"Don't you tell me to stop it, and don't you dare 'for God's sake' me, Adam! Ever!" Charlie hissed, eyes flashing dangerously when she shot him a poisonous look, "She might still be alive if we hadn't been so close! And pray do tell me just why it was Lioano? Hmm? What not Intermise, or Fina? Why not them! She's a damned Death Eater, and she won't be any rookie, either! Just...leave it."
Once more, Charlie turned her gaze back to the reddish soil that they were sitting on. Oh joy. Oh fabulous. She'd came her, weak and upset, and saw Adam, hoping for some comfort and kind words, but oh no. She had to end up arguing with him. Couldn't she do anything right?

She earned a clumsy glare from the boy, but Charlie's sharp words shut Adam up quickly. He did dare to speak, though; but although they were annoyed words, they were quiet. "Yeah, well, she's not, okay? And, I don't know why it was Lioano! Lowest floor? Merlin only knows. Hey, maybe it'll be Intermise next time!" He spat the last part angrily, with out thinking, but then his features changed.
"Oh, damn." His eyes were wide once more, slightly showing the fright inside. "What if there's... Charlie, what if there is a next time?" His sister and Belle were in Intermise, and Roxie was in Fina. What if the Death Eaters came again and hurt them? Killed them? Oh, great; in a moment of anger, Adam had given himself a shit load of new things to worry about. Oh well done.

When Adam said these words, Charlie's expression didn't change. She didn't even look up. Wasn't Felicia's brother in Intermise? Wasn't Matt in Intermise too? She wondered faintly how Matt was taking the news. From what she knew, they two of them had been getting quite snug, working together...Charlie gave herself a mental slap. Why should she care? She didn't know either of the boys. They didn't know her. A sick feeling stirred in the pit of Charlie's stomach. She strongly felt the need for yet another stiff drink.
"I don't care," Charlie mumbled. Her voice was softer now, as her anger dissolved away. She just didn't have the strength to keep it up for very long, "I just don't want to think about it."

Adam's face fell, and he murmured lamely, "Yeah, well... you kind of should." He shuddered, understanding why she didn't want to think about it. "I know, though; it's all awful." He tried himself not to think about it, but images, these ones made up, kept popping into his painful head, almost as realistic as the horrid memories that had been haunting him before Charlie appeared to scare them away.
At least he could thank her for that.

"I know I should," Charlie said with the smallest of ight sighs, letting herself lie back on the lumpy earth. She closed her eyes, shutting out the sights of Adam, and the dark starry sky, but inducing those of that fearful, fateful night, "But to be honest Adam, I don't think I can. I don't think I want to. I just want to be warm. I just want to sleep, and forget all about it. But I don't think I can do that either. What's a girl to do, hmm? I'll be damned if I know..."

Adam nodded, unaware that Charlie couldn't see him, and said, "You have a better chance of doing that in your own bed, you know." He regretted saying this as soon as it came out; there was no way Charlie would want to sleep in her own room after what had happened in there; Adam found his own bed creepy, and shadows seemed to sweep over and around him from the walls that he had previously loved.

"I don't have a bed of my own anymore," Charlie said tightly. Her eyes flickered open, and she gazed sadly up at Adam, "Oh, Adam. What am I going to do? What are we going to do? The whole school? Is there anything we can do?"
She couldn't help but notice just how the stars seemed so bright that night. The clear sky, however, did mean it was rather cold. Planets and constaltion winked down at her brightly as she lay with her hands by her side, feet together. Cassiopeia, Orion, Hydra, the Plough. She could name quite a few. Memories of year's ago stirred dimly in her head...

Adam looked down awkwardly, and whispered, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that... I know you don't." He sighed; damn, he was doing that an awful lot lately, but at least he was almost sober again. "Don't ask me that Charlie," he said. "I don't know. I didn't know what to do with myself tonight, so I came out here and got drunk. That's what my advice is worth; nothing."

"There you go again, Adam. Apologising. Putting yourself down. Don't. It's irritating." Charlie looked over at her fellow Lioano, and tried to smile. She patted the ground beside her, inviting him to lie down with her.
"Tell me," she said, thinking it would be better for them to change the conversation, "When you were a little boy...did you ever go star gazing? In the spring, or perhaps winter, when the skies are so clear and the air so sharp, you can almost see every star possible?"

"Yeah, well... that was actually right." He rolled his eyes at her, but lay down next to her anyway, adding, "Anyway, that's just me; irritating. Here I go again with the babbling." Finally... he was silent once more. "Not really. Sure, me and my sisters would stare at them sometimes, if we took the dogs for a late walk, but it wasn't really a hobby. We didn't do it often. Did you?"

"When I was young - very young - before my dad...disappeared, he used to take me, and August to a field close to out house. We'd lie on a big plaid picnic blanket, and he'd point out all the stars and constallations, and teach us all the names of them..." Charlie said, the faintest ghost of a smile appearing on her pale pink lips, before it disappeared, and she added sadly, "I've forgoten most of them. After he went away, I never kept up the practise..."
