Left hand - yes, shes left handed - clutching a quill, Mirabelle sat at an empty, stone table in The Courtyard, and dropped her shoulder bag into the seat beside her. She pulled out a piece of parchment, as well as a ham sandwich and a box of apple juice - both bought from the Hall of Snow to take outside - and began to write. She had been set a Care of Magical Creatures essay to be done by the start of term, and she had been holding it off for long enough.____________________________________________ Mirabelle Miette
Magical Beasts from Around the World The Erumpent is a huge, African beast that resembles a rhinoceros. It's horn, which can...___________________________[/color] She wrote several lines, before looking up and at her surroundings. The courtyard was a nice place to be, and right now it was filled with students, some she recognized - such as Adam McElroy - and some that she didn't - such as the girl next to Adam, who appeared to be his younger sister -. The Intermise broke into her sandwiches, and took a bite, smiling happily.
It was a cool day, and Belle was dressed in denim cut-offs, a short-sleeved, pale green tee shirt, and green flip-flops. She was comfortable, and her long blond hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, secured with a green bobble.
She sighed happily, and picked up her quill again.
{Bleh. Crappy. You post with whoever, then I'll bring in more of mine.}

Charlie adored sunny lunchtimes in the courtyard. Clutching the bottle of water that would be her lunch today in one hand, she quite happily tripped into the hedge enclosed areas, pushing her large, dark sunglasses up her nose. She was looking quite scruffy-chic today, with her sunglasses, a pair of very low-slung baggy jeans, and a tight black t-shirt, which flashed a good few inches of her flat, toned stomach. Her long blond hair was pulled back tightly, and her fringe was pinned back off her face aswell.
Charlie glanced around the Courtyard, hoping to see some familiar faces. And lucky, she did. She wandered over to him with a small, friendly smile. He was with another girl, whom Charlie assumed was his sister, as they looked slightly similar.
"Why hello there," She said on approaching.
((She hasn't see Mirabelle - yet...))

"I can't believe you just said that."
"What?"
"What you just said."
Two voices could be heard from a picnic table opposite Mirabelle's, one sounding extremely irritated, and one that sounded fakely angelic. These voices belonged to seventeen years old Adam McElroy and his sixteen years old sister, Scarlet. "What?" the female asked again, sitting up slightly straighter and taking bite out of her pizza slice. Adam appeared to give in, and told Scarlet what was annoying him so about their conversation.
"That the 'Foulmouth' Falcons are a decent Quidditch team!!" he burst out.
"Well they are," Scarlet replied, rolling her eyes. "Your precious Kenmare Krestals aren't the only good players!"
"It's Kenmare Kestrels, for a start," he corrected. "And I didn't imply that in the first place! It's just that the Falcons don't even compare to them! Take a look at their Keeper; he-" Adam cut himself off as Charlie arrived at the table, and he said cheerfully, "Hello, Charlie. Take a seat, eat your lun- water." He gestured to the seat next to him; Scarlet was in one of the two opposite. "Have you met my sister?"
Scarlet smiled up at her, and said, "I'm Scarlet, and from what I've gathered, you're Charlie."

Smiling pleasantly, Charlie slid into the seat next to Adam, the one he'd gestured to, with her back to Mirabelle, "Pleasure to meet you, Scarlet. I hope I'm not interrupting an important conversation," She said, raising her eyebrows, and unscrewing the cap of her water bottle. They had been talking about Quidditch teams, or something like that. She wasn't terribly interested in Quidditch - she just liked flying, though, unfortunately, was still rather lacking in the working broom department. She took a small sip of her water, which was pleasantly cool, before putting the lid back on. "Mm, Adam, seen any more of that wretched Mirabelle lurking around?"

Adam flushed slightly, and was just about to say no when Scarlet interrupted with a, "Not unless lecturing me for the whole lunch break about two Quidditch teams sounds important to you." She grinned as she teasingly said this, eyebrows raised at Adam.
When Charlie asked about Mirabelle, Adam went to reply that he hadn't seen her, after thinking a while about what to say. Of course he had seen her; she had passed his table. Once again, though, Scarlet interrupted.
"Belle Miette? Oh, she's just behind you. She tutors Roxie, doesn't she Ad, and Rox told you that she's lovely. I haven't met her, myself. Don't you like her?"

Charlie glanced over her shoulder to see the familiar blond hair figure of Mirabelle Miette sitting by herself, with her nose to a piece of parchment, scribbling away like a proper little swot. Charlie smirked slyly, and turned back to the present company.
"Like her?" Charlie asked as though it was something quite absurd she'd been asked, "I'd rather be locked in a four by four box with three Blast Ended Skrewts for company than be anywhere near that laughable excuse for a human being," She said, in an entirely pleasant voice, and hopefully loud enough for Mirabelle to hear.

Adam sighed, annoyed once again, and shot a glare at his confused sister, Scarlet. He waited for Charlie's reaction.
When Charlie turned to look behind her, Adam saw Mirabelle looked up briefly to take a sip of juice. Belle locked eyes with the other girl, but their staring was broken when Charlie turned back to her own table.
Belle heard what she said, and rolled her eyes, once again picking up the quill and writing a few more words, the black ink drying quickly on the warm page. Scarlet stared at Charlie in shock after the response, before replying slowly, "I'll take that as a no, then. Why?"

Charlie smirked as she explained why, careful not to give anything about the hand away to Scarlet, "Well, I was sent on an errand by Andrews yesterday, and I was almost at the storeroom when I heard a scream from inside. So, I went in, and your brother, Adam was there too," She glanced at Adam, and continued speak, "Anyway, he's been sent to get stuff too, but it was Miette who'd been screaming. Apparently she'd fallen of a box, and seen something stupid, like a spider, or a rat. It was really quite funny. But the she started getting all bitchy, and snappy at me absoloutly no logical reason! In the end, she shouted at me, and stormed out, breaking open a crate of cockroaches. She never even helped clean them up. It was me, and Adam here that had to clean them up whilst she went away in her stupid little huff. So immature, really..."

"Actually, you yelled first, and you cleaned them up as well..." Adam muttered, before backtracking quickly. "But, yeah. She's...wrong, bitchy... Yeah. Not good." He motioned lamely at Mirabelle.
Mirabelle heard the last bit herself, and that made her snap, and say loudly, "I didn't scream because of a spider, Charlie, and you know that. What was in the box again? Oh yeah. A DEAD HAND. And you're the one that mercilessly murdered a spider by jumping on it until it disappeared!"
Oh no. The cat was SO out of the bag. Adam, who had been desperately shaking his head at Belle the whole time, smacked himself on the forehead, and actually began to bang his head on the table as Belle continued with,
"I didn't get to speak to Professor Darcy yesterday, but I'm sure she'll be in her office today..."

Charlie smiled at Adam. He was making some small attempt to stick up for her. She opened her mouth to tell him that it was sweet, but not necessary when she was interrupted by a whiny voice behind her. Looking very calm, and actually quite happy, Charlie spun round in the seat.
"Yes, you go suck up to the Headmistress, and see where that gets you!" Charlie said, fighting to keep a smile from her face, "There's nothing there. She won't believe you, Miette! I mean, come on, a dead skeletal hand just randomly happened to be in a some crate in the storeroom, and no one has notice it before? How lame is that! Oh, and don't bother telling her that one of us has got it." Charlie added, "I'll deny all knowledge, and I can assure you that you'll never find it."

"Ah, yes, but I have someone to help me with that, don't I, Adam? Someone who saw everything. Someone who might even know where you keep the awful item. Someone who'll help me."
Scarlet looked from the smug Belle to the red, studying-his-fingernails Adam in absolute confusion. "Adam?" she asked quietly. "What- what are you talk-"
She was cut off as Mirabelle spoke again. "Because Adam is special. Adam knows, understands, that if the hand, whatever it is, could be a danger to anybody in the school, that it is his duty to help me warn the Headmistress about it. Adam is not a low-life, stupid slag who's heading for nowhere, like you." She hissed the last part. "Not that he could be, anyway."

Charlie actually openly laughed at her insult. Oh, now, really.
"And nor is he a stupid, bad tempered, spoiled little snitch with a brown nose bigger than his brain, and the furthest he's ever going to go is to be some paper pushing yes-man in the underbelly of the Ministry, much like yourself. Also, he is not somewhere else, and you really should talk about him like he's not here. He doesn't know where the hand is anyway, so there."
Charlie smirked smugly. There was no way Mirabelle was going to trump her on this one.

"Talk about bad-tempered, bitch!" Belle shot back. "And, spoiled?! There's no way that I could be less spoiled if I tried! You call living with a murdering father - one who killed your own mother - from age seven to twelve, only to have him murdered himself at that age of twelve, living alone at school every single year while trying to scrape up enough money to buy a house when I leave and trying to do my damned best to grab an education spoiled?! What the hell is wrong with your head?!"
She stood up as she practically screamed out the last part, stuffing her parchment, and quill in her bag and saying. "Maybe you should try living like me for a while. That should shut you up, as well as stop you from ruining the only peace I have each day again." She sniffed tears back and headed a couple of steps away from the bench.
Talk about getting trumped.
Scarlet stared at Adam, before saying quietly, "Are you going to go after her? Help her?" When Adam didn't move, only looked down at his lap in an ashamed sort of way, she shoved hard on the shoulder, hissing, "You're pathetic." Then she got up and followed Belle, despite the fact that she didn't even know her, when Adam did.
