"Oh, how my heart fucking bleeds," Charlie muttered darkly under her breath. Honestly, did Miette actually expect Charlie to give a damn? Oooh, so she had no parents! Big deal! As far as Charlie was concerned, she didn't have parents either. She'd never had parents, not that she could really remember, anyway. Just her Aunt, and August, and for a little while, before she witnessed his murder, Uncle as well. And she hated every last one of them.
Charlie looked over at Adam. He look throughly miserable. Gently, she placed a hand on his arm, and said, "Don't feel bad, Adam. I really appreciate what you did, really. You shouldn't allow people to pressure you into doing things, or saying things...Thank you."

Before she left, Scarlet shook her head at Charlie, and glanced at Adam with an expression that clearly said, 'Why does he like her?'
"Yeah, well, I do," Adam snapped at her touch and voice. "Because I know that I should be with her, giving in the ring and the information. And the worst thing is... she shouldn't have to pressure me." He watched his sister disappear behind a hedge, and debated following her. In the end, his cowardly side won, and he stayed sitting where he was.

Charlie took the hint, and removed her hand, letting it fall in her lap. She looked away from him. It would be completely pointless getting angry with him.
"Well then, go. I don't need you, or anyone, really. I've been alone my whole damn life, another shot won't do anything drastic. There's nothing to stop you, nothing to keep you here. Go follow your little bleeding heart." Charlie nodded towards the direction that Scarlet and Miette had disappeared in. Her voice was bland, and monotone. She didn't want him to go, but she wouldn't stop him if he did.

Adam waved a hand vaguely. "I'm sorry I snapped at you. My voice has a damn life if it's own, sometimes. I don't want to go. I didn't really want to in the first place," he said this lamely, in a way that he hoped was persuasive. "It was just my go-help-them-you-loser part rearing it's ugly head again. I don't want to leave you when you l-" He stopped himself speaking, as the end of that sentence was 'look so sad', and he didn't think that would go down so well with her.

Charlie gave him a small, almost feeble smile, thinking rather smugly 'I pulled that one off beautifully'.
"Oh, thanks, Adam. You're so sweet, you know," She said meekly, picking up her bottle of water which lay on the table, forgotten in the argument. She took a drink, and offered some to him, "I feel so tired, all of a sudden! I really shouldn't let myself get so worked up like that..."

"No, I'm not," Adam said, grinning. "But thanks, anyway." He took the bottle and nodded in thanks, taking a sip. "You really shouldn't. You've really got some temper." He smiled. "Not to set you off again, though. Just an observation."

"That and a few other problems. One of the many flaws of coming from a pureblood family of more that thirteen generations. Oh, and it's all part of the job description of being a moody teenage girl." She said with a smile, and a little laugh, "And you needn't worry. I'll try not to bite your head off."

"Really? Pure? I'm a... Mud-Blood, to put it crudely," Adam said, sighing. "But, hey, that doesn't make you any less of a person, right? Wait... you're not into that 'pure-or-shit' crap, are you?" He sent her a small smile at the last part. "Good. I rather like my head, if I can be honest."

"And I'm rather getting fond of it too," Charlie said, with a little grin, "And no, of course not. Mudbloods are people too, right? Blood means nothing."
And she meant it. Well, at least most of her did. Charlie had been brought up in a very strict pureblood house hold. She'd be lying if she said that it hadn't affected her, or her judgments at all. But still, she wasn't all crazy 'you-mudblood-I-KEEL-you!' pureblood.

"Really now?" he said again, raising an eyebrow. "And good God, I'm glad that you think that about blood. And it's Muggle-Born, to you." He prodded her with a grin, all doubts about staying with her gone. "That other M-word is swearing, you could say." He whispered the last part as though it were forbidden, still grinning.

"I'm just trying to 'intimadate' you with my 'foul language'," Charlie said, slightly mockingly, prodding him gently, back. Still grinning, she took another drink of her bottle. It was about half empty. Her head was starting to hurt a little, but it was always like that recently. Stress, perhaps?

"Oh Merlin, don't..." Adam said with a grin, noting her return prod. "You'll make me... laugh."
