Aimee had ran straight to the courtyard, not bothering to try and find her way through the castle. Tears ran down her face, though her face wasn't red or scrunched up like most people's. She was actually one of those 'cute' criers, really, but that was beside the point. She buried her face in her hands as she sat down on a bench in a far corner, scolding herself for believing he could stay true to her. Her eyes were red from crying, and she had lost her scarf on the way. Her jacket was back up in her room, and she was freezing by now, but she didn't pay any attention to that right now. She was too busy crying her eyes out over her boyfriend cheating on her.

Adam had been out most of the evening, wandering Underground Paris. He was dressed appropriately, in dark jeans and a long-sleeved, black tee-shirt and a black jacket. He had gotten bored incredibly bored after a bit, though, with no company, and had made his way be up to the school.
Walking across the soft, green grass, he decided to take a short cut through the courtyard, saving time before it became fully dark. He could see the tall hedges from quite far away, and he reached the path eventually. He noticed something on the path, and bent down to pick it up. It was a scarf. Odd. He guessed he'd hand it in at Headmistress Darcy's office tomorrow.
He shivered slightly as a cold wind whipped his hair, and suddenly heard something up ahead. A girl, sitting on a bench up ahead off the path, sobbing. He knew who she was. He had met her that lunchtime, in the hall. She was his best friend's girlfriend. Aimee Reynolds.
Words floated through the Lioano's mind. Oh God. What's Alex done to her?
He quickened his pace, rushing up toward her. He said her name quietly, alerting her to his presence. "Aimee? What's the matter?" Running a hand through his light hair, he knelt on the floor next to her bench, gently placing a hand on her knee. She looked cold. Adam took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders.
He didn't know this girl well, but she looked really hurt, and, for some reason, he really wanted to know why. She had seemed really pleasant when he first met her, and he didn't like to see her in pain.

Aimee jumped slightly at the voice, looking up to see Adam. Oh God. She thought for a moment Alex had sent him to find her, but then he asked what was wrong. She felt his jacket slide over her shoulders, and she pulled it around her slightly, her arms crossed in front of her so each one pulled on the opposite side. She looked at him and said softly,"It's Alex... I saw him... kissing another girl... And he wasn't pushing her away..." The words were broken by sobs, and her voice was quiet. She trailed off, the tears still flowing down her cheeks.

When Aimee jumped, Adam thought that perhaps she didn't recognize him, and was going to go rushing back up to the school any minute. Then she pulled his jacket around her, and began to speak.
"It's Alex..."
So, Adam had been right. It was Alex. But what had he done to her to get her in such a state? The upset girl continued to shakily speak, tears still leaking out of her eyes, and Adam got his answer.
"-kissing another girl..."
Wait, what? Adam had known him since Alexander moved to the school, and although he had a different girl each week or so, he wasn't what you'd call a cheater, in a sense. While he was with that one girl, he would stay faithful to her, not sleeping with or kissing any body else. He was the perfect boyfriend.
Well, that is until he got bored of the girl and dumped her, of course.
But Adam had sensed that Aimee was different. That Alex really liked her. Now he felt pretty stupid himself.
"I'm... sorry." He had been silent for a long time. "I just didn't think you'd say something like that." That wasn't really so comforting, so he went on, bad as he was at this. "Look, Alex is my best friend, but even I'm gonna say that if he cheated on you, he's the ultimate, stupid jerk. You're kind, you're sweet, you're sexy." Adam grinned. "Why would he risk losing you if he wasn't a stupid jerk?"
What he said was pretty true, at least to him anyway. She was all of those things, and Alex had be pretty dumb to throw her away by kissing somebody else.

Aimee heard him speak again, and she looked at him, tears silently falling. They were slowing now, but they were yet to stop. When he said she was kind, sweet, and sexy, she managed a laugh/sob and said,"Thanks, but I shouldn't have expected too much, huh? I guess I just set myself up for heartbreak..." She shook her head lightly and said,"Maybe you're right..." She started to wipe the tears off her face, trying to will herself to stop.

Adam smiled at her laugh, reaching up and wiping a few tears from her damp face, stemming the flow for just a second. He listened to her speak, before saying gently,
"Come on. Alexander is charming. He's sweet, and comes across as pretty caring. It's not your fault. It's his personality that sets you up for expecting so much from him, and receiving so little. He lets a lot of people down, and it wasn't you that set you up for heartbreak; it was him. You deserve so much more. More than you expected, easily."
He gave her a small, reassuring smile.
{That was... an odd post. O.o I just rambled on...}

She smiled at him, laughing a little and saying,"Yeah. I just can't believe I let myself fall for it... I was a fool..." She shook her head again and looked at him helplessly. "I guess I've learned my lesson now, huh?" She had stopped crying by now, though her eyes were filled with unshed tears. She didn't want to cry any more... It didn't make her feel any better, and she wasn't sure it was worth it...

"It was easy to fall for." Adam moved, sitting next to Aimee on the bench. "And you're not a fool. You're a sweet girl, whose heart was captured by a... stupid jerk."
"Don't cry anymore..." He put an arm around her shoulders.

She smiled and whispered,"Thanks..." She felt his arm around her shoulders, and she rested her head on his shoulder. She needed a friend right now, and he was here. She was thanking God for that. "I'll try..." She offered a small smile, biting back the tears. She wouldn't let them fall. She bit her lip and asked softly, looking to the ground,"Has he ever... cheated... before?"

"It's okay," he replied quietly. "And, good. I hate to see anybody cry, especially someone that I know and am friends with."
"Well... that's the weird thing. I can't get my head around the fact that... I don't think he has. He's never told me that he has, and I doubt that he would do something such as cheating if he hates it so much... He's had it done to him, after all."

She let her eyelids slide open, staring blankly at the ground. "He hasn't?" She paused and said,"Had it done to him...?" She closed her eyes again. She had a headache. "None of this makes sense..." She sighed slightly and said,"I don't believe it's supposed to, though... I suppose this is why I avoided relationships in the first place, though..."

"No, you can't avoid relationships for the simple reason that's they're complicated! Sometimes you get hurt, but can you remember how it felt when you first got together with Alex? That wonderful feeling of liking someone and just knowing that they like you back? I wouldn't give that up just because of one person." Adam paused, and murmured somethig else. "He's not worth it, Aimee, he's not worth it."

She raised her head, looking up at him. "It felt great, but it didn't last..." She shrugged and said,"It makes me wonder if it's ever meant for me to be in a real relationship that works..." She looked at him, hearing the mumbled words. "Maybe he's not... I'll never know..."
