Yuan strode into the library with no expression written on his heavily made-up face. Yes, yet again he had gone to the trouble of putting on his usual extreme amount of makeup, regardless of what the other students thought. His makeup made him feel so much more secure rather than fake; He felt as though he could hide everything about him that he didn’t want anyone else to know. He ruffled the back of his silky hair, slightly narrowing his eyes to scan the book titles, in search of something worthy his time. He glanced around the library, it seemed to be emptier than usual, only a few students whos names he couldn’t recall sloped around. Yuan sighed quietly, all the books his eyes fell upon seemed meaningless and pointless to have even been written. He walked through the nearest isle of books, the fiction section. He sighed once more, hoping there would be something decent on those shelves. He flicked his fringe from his eyes, a large mahogany book catching his eye. “What’s this?” He spoke in a whisper, carefully dislodging the book from the shelf. He flipped the book onto its’ back and observed the front cover. It appeared to contain fictional creatures. Fictional in the eyes of a muggle. Yuan raised his eyebrow and turned it over, eyeing the blurb with curiosity.
Dragons and Unicorns
In a magical adventure involving two mythical creatures; Who will be the first to slain King Daeklin before he and his Unicorn Queen overthrow the village and make it their own? Just West in the Dragon Country of Xyrua, a daring and determined Dragon Mage by the name of Nomac travels East and hides out in the Chamber of Lost Legend, on important orders by a large group of assassins-
Yuan put the book back on the shelf, sighing. He thought he had found himself a good read, yet all it was, was another way to mutilate creatures that actually did exist. Being a huge animal lover, Yuan had researched most of the creatures that muggles class as legendary, and he enjoyed mocking the books that they wasted their time writing. There was nothing wrong with imagination, but to harm animals like that was disturbing. In fictional muggle books such as crime, atleast the ones that involved murder did not control an existing person. Shaking his head, he walked from the isle and turned down another. After several minutes of browsing he walked back along the isle and shrugged. Maybe he would find something to read another day. He walked over to the nearest table and sat down, pulling out his diary and smiling warmly. When all else fails he turns to his diary for a source of entertainment. He set it down on the table and opened it to a clean page. However when he was about to write inside it, he spotted a message in red ink at the bottom of the page.
”I think you should hide it better next time.”
Almost falling backwards from his chair in fright, he brought his diary closer to his face, rereading the words several times in hope of them being fake and his mind playing tricks on him. Why would someone stoop so low as to sabotage the only thing he had to himself here at Beauxbatons? He frowned and dropped the diary fiercely on the table, refusing to look over the secrets he had written in its’ pages. After all, if somebody else had selfishly plunged their faces into his diary, and divulged on his memories, he didn’t want to remind himself of what they now knew about him. Yuan had so many secrets that would backfire on him badly were they to get around. But if only he knew who had seen them, he would be able to understand whether the message had a threatening intent or a cautious one. After all, he could just be over-paranoid. Somebody may have seen it lying around and written a warning for him. Being in Fina house, amongst the naturally good-hearted students, it wouldn’t be unusual.

Liz stood up from the floor. She had heard a rustle. Someone had come near her hiding place. If they found out she had been practicing imperio on frogs, they would, of course, yabb, and get her into Azkaban faster than she could ever get away. Holding her wand at ready, she walked forwards, away from the dusty bookshelves filled with old and unneeded textbooks. It might be worth it to strike first, in case they were listening... Her eyes noticed the stooped back of a male student. He was staring intently at something, his face conveying an expression of utter surprise and fear. Liz relaxed- this one wouldn't listen, he's too involved in thoughts of his own- and came forward from the shadows, her shoes brushing softly against the floor.

Being in a state of shock and surprise, it was only natural that Yuan did not sense a presence around him. He slowly turned to place his diary back into his pocket, hopeful he would find the person responsible later. His head was overrun with thoughts of what would happen if the students discovered the one secret he had hidden for so many years. The secret not even his dead best friend had known. Sighing, he drummed the tabletop with his fingertips. That would be it for a few days, Yuan would feel constantly edgy and determined not to let his privacy known of. His ears pricked the silence slightly, the sensitivity of them hearing footsteps now as he turned around in his chair.
Yuan didn’t know what to think of the girl. It’s not like he usually took appearances into consideration anyway. His eyes ran over her for several seconds, his curiosity mostly forcing them to meet her own. Quietly he spoke, parting his lips as the words ran through them. “Why are you walking around like that?” He paused, scratching his chin gently before continuing. “You are going to arouse suspicion.” Mostly annoyed by the fact that somebody had invaded on his privacy, accidental or otherwise, his words had come out slightly sharper than he intended, and he hung his head a little in apology. He didn’t say anything about it aloud however, as he waited patiently for the girl to respond. His ears pricked again as the sound of the flames in the fire was the only other thing that penetrated the silence after he had spoken.

Liz raised an eyebrow. How did the boy know? She looked him in the eye. It was important to know if he was a danger to her- perhaps one of those chameleons that look like they know nothing and then start blackmailing you when you least expect it- or if he was just another one of those ignorant 'honest' citizens that got lucky on occasion. She studied his face. Yes, appearance isn't everything, but those fools that claim that it is nothing are nothing but that- fools, for appearance can tell much more of the person than they expect. This one's face was clean, though- no redding ears, unhealthy fiery eyes, or skin folds from smirking too much after you've backstabbed a friend. It might be only a guise, though- perhaps he is just a good actor as she is... Memorising the new acquaintance's features, she walked up to him, still raising an inquisitive eyebrow, her mouth stretched into a frown. "What are you hiding?" Somewhere in the distance, a fire cackled and whizzed like an old hag. But she ignored it.

Yuan stared at her blankly for a few seconds before raising his eyebrow. After all, she had been quick to change the subject. “What are you implying?” He replied, prefering to arrogantly answer a question with a question. He blinked and watched her closely, his thoughts dropping back to the message written in his diary. Though it was unlikely she had anything to do with it, as this student was not even in his house. He ruffled his hair out of habit, messing it up again since that seemed to be fashionable nowadays. His face still held an enquiring look, one that he wouldn’t dismiss until the girl explained why she had asked a question like that.
“For one who appeared to be creeping around, that’s an inappropriate question to ask,” He continued, as though a silence hadn’t passed between them. His expression appeared thoughtful for a moment or two, as he wondered whether this girl was referring to his physical appearance. He was wearing a large amount of makeup to disguise who he really was. Yuan sighed, his right eyebrow wriggling upwards once more as though that was its’ actual home on his face. Well, let’s just say he raises his eyebrow a lot. He momentarily stared into the fire, the flames crackling against one another. He looked deeper, entranced in the beautiful reds, oranges, yellows and blues that the fire was made up of. Slowly he averted his gaze from the fireplace, back into the face of the girl.

Liz laughed inwardly. The boy was either flirting with her, or he was trying to look 'tough'- a kitten that ruffles his fuzzy fur at the sight of a big cat. He raised her eyebrow further, and now, seeing how he responded, understanding that he didn't know anything, she planted a mischievous smile onto her lips. "Why so arrogant?" she inquired, as she leaned over him, "it was just a question. Just a single, simple question. It wasn't even anything as frightening as 'is that a stolen book in your pocket'."

Yuan was taken aback for a second, he didn’t expect this sort of reply. So that was what she was doing? Trying to peer over his shoulder and enter his head? Shrugging, he licked his lips before responding. “If I had stooped to that sort of level, you don’t really think I would advertise it in public for people like you to discover, do you?” Although he appeared to be calm, he was slightly annoyed. To think that he would be accused of theft, after a past like his was just plain stupid. However, thinking this put him in a state of hypocrisy. He did accuse the girl of creeping around, and he had no solid proof this was what she was doing. Yuan glanced up at her with a slight smirk, at least if she thought it was someone elses book, she didn’t know anything about it being sabotaged.
“Just to steady your imagination, it happens to be my diary.” Yuan paused and smiled at her, his eyebrow - shockingly - not raised. Instead the smile that was curled from his lips was a mix between smirking, smiling and blankness. He didn’t know how to react to this sudden invasion on his privacy, he felt like he had to explain what the book was just so she wouldn’t demand to read through it. She still could demand it, however it’s hardly likely that he would hand it over so willingly. He sighed and obviously decided to ignore her comment on his behaviour. He had been doing that a lot lately, ignoring people who didn’t even deserve to be ignored. It made his life easier, or he felt it did.

Liz's insides suddenly erupted on fire, as if fireworks had exploded inside her, or as if someone had let scores of butterflies sabotage her stomach. Ah, the tangy scent of an imminent kill... "Your diary? Really? You know, I'll be honest with you," she slumped down on a nearby chair and put on the expression of an honest liar, "the moment I saw you, I thought you were smart. Now, I see you are not. When I first heard you, I thought you were wise. Now, I see even clearer, you are not. You know, every time I meet another darling with the IQ of a broomstick twig, I feel that some small part of me, perhaps my sanity, is sucked into the vortex of despair. "But, enough talk of your intelligence- I wouldn't expect any more from a Fina, anyway- did the 'primadonna' take a look at it yet?"

Yuan raised his eyebrow again, waiting several seconds for her to finish her large speech before sighing and being blunt in reply. “Well, considering I did not think you to be smart in the first place, what you just said hasn’t changed anything in my opinon.” He paused, thinking this sounded a little odd based on his theory. “You know nothing about me, and I nothing about you. Therefore your state of intelligence wouldn’t register in my mind anyway.” He rested his hands on the desk infront of him, sighing before continuing, “Any other time I’d ask you to enlighten me in why you find me unintelligent, but right now I really don’t care.” Yuan smirked and ignored her final comment completely. He was in the mood for an argument, however whether the girl liked it or not, he wouldn’t care about points she would make anyway.
“And since Fina is mostly stereotyped to be the most kind-hearted and caring house, I think you will find that based on this I have been misplaced.” Yuan paused and licked his lips, “At least right now anyway, because I care nothing for you.” He turned his back to her and stared at the wall. He felt like being stubborn and he deemed the wall to be more interesting. “If you say something that might catch my attention, perhaps I won’t seem so arrogant to you.” Sighing, Yuan rolled his eyes and stared blankly into the fireplace once more, watching the colours dance, twirl and become entwined within one another.

Liz followed his gaze, to the fireplace. There, flames writhed in their newfound glory, dancing and licking away their passion in the ash. They will soon die, she thought. Anything that moved that fast did. She turned back to the boy. He was paying no attention to her, it seemed. It was always like this- she'd make an appearance, and people wouldn't notice her anyway. To tell the truth, she was sick and tired sometimes of being invisible. Occasionally, even spirits want to make a difference. Oh well, she thought, wriggling her eyebrows, might as well help the boy. "So, someone gotcha journal before you could stop 'em, eh? Don't hide it- a person only gets a mugg like that after they understand that all their secrets have been read."

Yuan blinked and turned back to the girl, feeling a little more relieved she wasn’t trying to bite his head off like everyone else did. Although he did give them reason too, not everybody understood why he could be so ignorant. He nodded slowly, blinking several times. “For their sanity and my own they will not spread my secrets around.” He was doubtful of course, but all he had was his hope, and right now he clung to it like it desperately. “N-not that I have anything too bad written in my diary of course...” He let his slightly stuttering voice trail off. He was slightly surprised that someone had even conversed with him for this long. Sighing, Yuan swam around his own idiocy for a few moments, realising that any normal person would keep such private things inside their heads, and wouldn’t need to write them down.
Although panicking, Yuan appeared calm. He rarely let his important emotions show to spare the satisfaction of the person causing them. He pretended to find something interesting about his hands for a few seconds, before looking into the girl’s eyes. “You wouldn’t expect folk to be so selfish.” He spoke quietly, although he didn’t show any emotion through his tone. Raising his eyebrow slightly he added, “Especially if they’re from Fina house.” He smiled and thought about Fina’s stereotypical selection of students.

"Ah, my friend, to see or not to see? I always find people hoping that some things might turn out as they dream of them- that all Lioanos are brave, that all Intermises are intelligent, that all Finas are kind... Yet, that is rarely the case. You've got some nasty rats in that place as well, my naive friend.... You only have to notice them." Liz waited for the boy's reaction. He was clearly interested- it appears that the only way she could find company is when she offered to help. Damn humans and their sinful souls. She was destined to be used and thrown out like an old glove for ever....

“I suppose.” Yuan shrugged and went back to staring into the fire. He couldn’t help but do that, he found things like the fire beautiful and creative. Kind of like his makeup when he spends time on it. He blushed a little, although invisible because of the amount of makeup he wore on his face. He wasn’t used to talking to people properly without the slight hostility. After staring into space for several minutes, he looked back at the girl, turning his whole body to face her. He didn’t want to seem rude and uninterested since she was also making an effort not to tear him apart for his supposed arrogance. He ruffled his hair again without realising, something he had done for so many years that he never noticed he was doing it. It occasionally annoyed other students so they would point it out.
Yuan sat silently now, staring at the girl. She might consider it to be rude but at the moment he didn’t care. He was lost in his own thoughts and just now and again he liked it that way. Several seconds later, his eye twitched and brought him out of his musings. Yuan raised his gaze to the girl’s eyes, figuring that she preferred eye contact to a blank look somewhere around her neck area. “Why were you walking around so quietly anyway?” He asked curiously, but in a more polite tone than he had used previously.
