Someone up there has it in for me, Charlie thought, feeling mildly amused. It couldn't just stop for breath after the whole dead-best-friend-return-of-the-dragon-sister, but the news reached her that morning that Fina had been attacked too the previous night. It was tragedy upon tragedy, and to top it off, she'd forgotten her towels, and stubbed her toe in the changing rooms. Dropping the bag with her clothes in it, sans towels, onto a lounger, she untied her green sarong to reveal a brand spanking new bikini. It was bold leopard print, with gold straps - loud, and unusual, much like herself, which was one reason it had caught her eye in the shop. Charlie had decided that she deserved some retail therapy, and had splurged in a five hour shopping trip to the best and most expensive shops in Paris. Today was a good a day as any for showing of one of her many new purchases - but there was one problem.
The bloody swimming pool was empty, save for herself.
Carefully, frowning, she shimmied off the edge of the pool at the shallower end, and slipped in up to her waist. She waded toward the deeper end, until the water was up to her shoulders, before she kicked into a lazy breast stroke. The water felt cool and clingy on her skin - it was warm, but not unpleasantly so. The only thing was that the water had been chlorinated, like a Muggle pool, and it was making her eyes sting like hell. Squeezing them shut, she flipped onto her back, kicking slowly with her legs. She was actually glad it was quiet. It meant she could think, which the Lioano girl had managed to avoid doing since the teary encounter with the ever sweet Adam in the courtyard. To the gentle sound of the sloshing water and small splashes, Charlie let herself grieve again, even if was only for a moment.
And then it passed.
Throat feeling tight, and her eyes red and stingy, Charlie pulled herself up onto the edge of the pool, and sat for a moment, kicking at the water idly. Why did they have to put bleach in it? Surely they had some sort of water purifying spell, or something...She sighed, and leaned back on her hands, looking down at her new, flashy bikini. If there had been people there, at least she's have someone to talk to...

((Couldn't resist, and you looked so lonely. xP I'll try and get my Cove replies to you tomorrow or Sunday. x.x;; Audition tomorrow, and I had some random muse for this thread the other day when I had time to skim through everything... ^^))
Doesn't come down when she calls It's time for breakfast Momma can't get down those halls Fast enough to see
Cal was finally out of that God-forsaken place, and he was going to enjoy it to the fullest. Adam was nowhere to be found, so the Lioano had resorted to something else: swimming. He had got out of bed, his hair extremely tousled and sweat glistening on his bare chest. He was still having those nightmares... He was exhausted, but everytime he tried to sleep... He couldn't. It was too hard for him. All the screams, the blood, the large forms, the pain, the curses... It all combined into his memories from that night. He wasn't sure that he would ever forget... He wasn't sure if he ever could forget. It was terrible, and it was haunting him. So in just boxers, he sat there in bed, staring at the wall. Niko was worried and joined him on the bed, and he rested his hand on the large jungle cat wearily.
Glass is sprayed across the floor From the broken window She can't breathe anymore Can't deny what we know
Finally, he sighed and took a shaky breath. His breathing was just starting to slow, and he knew he had to get up and do something -- anything to get his mind off of the attack. Anything. So he reluctantly got to his feet and grabbed a pair of swimming trunks. He grabbed his wand -- he never went anywhere without it anymore. Muttering a spell, Niko's food and water replinished itself. He was working on magicking it so that it would replinish itself on its own, but he just couldn't muster up the energy to try and find it. He was tired, and he didn't usually go too far from his dorm anyway. Well, his and Adam's dorm, but Adam rarely used it anymore. He could understand why, though. He was having some problems with it himself...
They're gonna find you just believe You're not a person; you're a disease All these lives that you've been taking Deep inside my heart is breaking
He headed for the showers, and soon he was squeaky clean. He had slipped on his swimming trunks after drying and walked back to his dorm. He grabbed a t-shirt and a hat and left the dorm, keeping his wand with him. He also had grabbed a towel and a pair of jeans. It might come in handy. He decided to stay indoors, as he wasn't too keen on freezing his buns off. Nope. So he went to the pool, which was empty, only to find another occupant. He placed his stuff on the opposite side of the pool, which was where he had come in at, and without a word or anything, took a slight start and dove into the pool, his form nearly flawless. He was pretty good, but he wouldn't do that as a sport or for a living or anything. It wouldn't suit him. He surfaced and sprayed water, shaking it from his eyes. His hair, which had been plastered to his forehead, was now just soaked and loose. He then looked over at the girl and waved, offering a small smile. "Hey." His tone was soft, but his voice was loud enough for her to hear very well. It was short, but it was simple. Perfect, really.
Broken homes from separation Don't you know it's violation It's so wrong, but you'll see Never gonna let you take my world from me

Charlie almost jumped when the peace was suddenly disrupted as a dark haired boy entered the room, depositing his thing as he headed towards the pool. He looked familiar, but she couldn't remember his name at all. Her grass green eyes watched him with some interest as he executed a neat dive into the water, before surfacing again. Flecks of water scattered on her already damp skin, and she made herself smile in response. It was a showy entrance, but Charlie had the feeling he hadn't meant it to be.
"Hey there," she replied, tilting her head to the side a little. Ah, yes, boys...she'd almost forgotten about them since the incident - well, apart from the occasional and unexplained thought of Adam, which she dismissed quickly - and to be honest, she couldn't help but feel a little awkward being alone with one. It was a far cry from her usual flamboyant and flirty self. In fact, she felt almost self conscious. One hand drifted to her shoulder. The scratches, lacerations and rope burns had been quickly taken care of by the nurses. You might even say she looked as good, if not better as before. A flicker of doubt, and she scolded herself, dropping her hand back to the smooth tile. Charlie sat up straighter, easing out what she hoped was a friendly, charming smile, "Nice dive. I'm Charlie, by the way."

Truthfully, Cal was glad for the water hiding his chest from her. Because now there was a scar... A lasting memory from his 'friends'. He knew that Adam was torn up about it, and he would never forgive himself, but Cal was going to try his best to get his best friend to forget about it. Because that's what Cal was going to try and do. Forget. Because otherwise, he was just going to be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. His blue-green eyes -- which were more blue today than green -- looked over at the pretty girl before him. Of course, he wasn't even thinking about her in those terms, but of course he noticed that she looked nice. He swam a tad closer, though he kept about 6 feet from them. He didn't want to invade her space, but he didn't want to shout across the pool.
Of course, he was also a little shy, believe it or not. Some people found it hard to believe -- thinking it but an act -- what with his good looks and all, but he was. He was rather painfully shy, though he could pass it off as being just a little quiet at times. It was odd, but it was Cal. 100% Cal, alright. "Thanks. Nice to meet you, Charlie. I'm Caliban... But please, call me Cal." He smiled and tried to keep himself under the water up to his neck, which wasn't too hard as he was currently treading water. He didn't want to have to explain the scar... He wasn't quite ready yet. Suddenly, he wished for his t-shirt, but his wand and t-shirt were on the other side of the pool. Real smooth, Cal, he thought. He then said,"You seem familiar... Have we perhaps had a class together this year?"

"Pleasure, I'm sure," Charlie said, and couldn't help the slight purr surfacing in her voice. Yes, that was more like it, "And we more than likely have had a class together at some point - you're Lioano, right? Yeah, thought I knew you from somewhere. But you're not in sixth year. Seventh I presume?"
Charlie smiled again and wiggled her feet a little, making small ripples in the water. The boy - or Caliban as he'd introduced himself as - seemed to be quite a strong swimmer, thought she'd never spotted him at the pool. But then again, she had never been alone at the pool before, and she never came on a regular basis. Charlie felt a little envious. She wasn't exactly what you would call a top class swimmer. Her talents were more posing at the side, looking smashing in a skimpy bikini, heels and sunglasses combo (though that was really just in the summer, outside), than actually partaking in the whole exercise-getting-wet-thing. Still, it would be a handy thing to know. A girl never can tell when she's going to be oh so suddenly stranded, minus wand, in some random expanse of water...
Charlie snapped back to attention, realizing that she'd drifted of into whimsical fancies of desert island romances and the likes. How rude of her.
"Sorry!" she said, almost bashfully, "I'm not quite...with it today. Did you say something?"
