Ugh, what a day.
It had been a quiet day, the sky grey, the trees still, the grass neat. Nobody had seemed to speak to anyone else, as if their hearts were filled with an eternal sadness, and the air had been filled with tension and… fear. But perhaps this was all in the imagination of an annoyed young Lioano; perhaps not.
Lareina herself hadn’t spoken much to anyone over the course of the day, and the only people she had traded words – insults? – with were her dear sister Emerald and some irritating little third years that seemed determined to be rude to her. Everyone else seemed to walk around in a trance.
But then things changed. The still environment outside was broken as the clouds were, and huge drops of clear water fell from the purple sky. The atmosphere inside was energetic once more, as if seeing the rain had calmed people down and made them breathe a long sigh of relief. Things were relatively back to normal again, which was. . . good? Well, at least there wouldn’t be any change, nothing to adapt to. That was always pretty reassuring.
Oh, if only they had known.
Now, though, Lareina had decided to visit the fitness rooms. There was a pool there that she suspected would be pretty empty. It was pouring down outside, and, being around seven o’clock, it was pretty dark outside. The rain was pounding on the glass roof, and the lights that were on, coupled with the flashes of lightning and claps of thunder from outside, gave the huge room an eerie kind of feeling.
It was warm, though, and completely empty, so Lareina just took off the low jeans and vest top that she was wearing to reveal the skimpy white bikini set that had been previously hidden underneath. Her clothes, and wand, remained dumped on a recliner next to the pool.
As she dove into the pool, another thought that had been troubling her struck at her mind: she hadn’t seen Professor di Angelico around lately. Anywhere at all. She still hadn’t signed up for his class, and wasn’t sure that she would, all of a sudden. He hadn’t cleaned up the mess, and her paranoid – was it, though? – mind was convinced that he was avoiding her. Ignoring her completely after what had happened in the Hall of Baile. It was ridiculous, not to mention embarrassing, and the thoughts made Lareina’s cheeks redden and her swimming speed up.
