Elizabeth had hung up the sign-up sheet and walked back to her office after she had cleaned up her classroom a bit. Now she sat on a couch, Demon at her feet, reading one of her books. It was one of the forbidden books, that were supposed to have been burned years ago. She had a copy of every single one. She was very influential, and she was very resourceful.
She smiled slightly as she sipped from her wine glass. It was full of a white wine, with excellent taste from an excellent year, and she was content. She then set down the book, placing a bookmark in it, and flicked her wand at it. It flew back into its place on the shelf, and she got up and walked to her piano.
She set the wine glass down on the piano, and she opened it. She stared at it for a moment after she had gotten her music out, then she started to play. It was beautiful, and she lost herself within the music. The notes on the pages were just as much her friends as the words in those books. She knew them so well, and she loved them dearly. This was her life outside of teaching. This was where her happiness dwelled. Demon laid in his bed, watching her closely. He was always watchful, careful never to let harm come to his mistress.

Braeden had just returned from a walk around the grounds. He had had an extremely boring day, just, basically, checking out the school and exploring. He just thought it would be better to know his way around.
His legs were hurting slightly, and he couldn't wait to get back to his office slash room and just collapse onto something comfortable; even if it was the floor. Also, he had to clean out his owl's cage, but that could probably wait until tomorrow.
The Potions Master turned into the appropriate corridor off of the entrance hall, and walked down past several of the doors in the hall. A few soft, sweet notes of music reached his ears from a room slightly past his own. He stopped, still, listening to the music, which was clearly played by a piano. He hoped that the person inside didn't have a pet; it would have heard him and he would have been caught outside her door, simply standing still and listening, actually enjoying something. Now that would be awkward.

Elizabeth had no idea that there was someone outside her door. She didn't notice Demon raise his head and stare at the door. Well, that is, until he started to growl. Then she looked at him, and her eyes travelled to the door. She took a hand off the piano, still playing with one hand, and flicked her wand at the door. It opened.
She saw a man outside. He seemed familiar. Perhaps the potions professor? She really couldn't tell, as he was outside and she was inside. "Please, come in." She called to him and continued to play, resuming it two-handed once more.

Shit. There it was. The pet. And a bloody big thing, as well.
Braeden had been, if he could be totally honest, pretty shocked when the door to the office with the lovely music coming from it flew open. There was a woman inside, on the piano. He knew who she was. She was another professor. He'd seen her in the Staff Room before.
"Please, come in."
He thought for a moment, before reluctantly stepping into the room, staying in the doorway. He sort of hated meeting people for the first time. It was always awkward. Well, it was for him, anyway.
He coughed. "You play... well," Brae said slowly, nodding and taking another step into the room.

She smiled and looked over her shoulder at him. "Thank you." She turned back, finishing the song, and closed the piano. She got to her feet and walked over to him. She held out her hand and said,"I'm Elizabeth James. Defense Against the Dark Arts. I'ts a pleasure to meet you." Demon had relaxed, keeping his eyes on the two of them. At least he had stopped growling.

He nodded again, with a smile. "My pleasure."
Braeden shook her hand, and said, "Braeden Andrews. Potions." He glanced at the dog; at least it wasn't trying to eat him. Yeah, that was a pretty good thing.

She smiled and said,"Please, come in. Sit down." She gestured at the cream leather couch. "Can I get you something to drink?" She moved towards the fridge, where she kept some food, drinks, and the cups beside it. Yeah, Demon wouldn't eat him. Bark at him, maybe even jump on him and growl, but that was only if he tried anything really stupid.

"Of course." Braeden moved toward the couch, sitting on it and replying smoothly, "I wouldn't want to cause you any trouble... Only if you're having one." And, tried anything? Man, like what?

She turned and smiled at him, saying,"It's no problem. And, yes, I am having one... What would you like?" She topped off her glass with more wine and waited. Demon watched them both lazily, though he was always ready to jump to her defense. If he tried to hurt her or did anything she didn't like, he would be on him like butter on bread.

"Whatever you're having," he replied, shrugging and glancing at Demon. He was a mighty big dog... Those teeth could do some major damage.
{BLEH.}

She smiled and poured him a glass of wine as well. She then walked over to the couch and handed it to him, sitting in the chair across from it. "So, Braeden, have you got many students signed up to take Potions yet?" She pulled her feet into the chair, at her side, and rested her right hand on her leg. Her left was holding her glass as she sipped from it. Demon just laid there, seemingly relaxing more now. This guy didn't seem so bad.

"Thanks." Braeden took the wine, sipped it and placed it on his knee, balancing it with a hand. "Hmm... about eleven or twelve." He thought back to the sign-up sheet. "But I expected more... and there will be. You?"
He knew more people would come; Potions was a necessary class, after all.

She smiled and said,"I've gotten a few. I believe 15 or so, though not everyone has signed up yet. I hope more will come..." She sipped from her wine and asked,"How long have you been teaching?" Hey, might as well start with the basics, right?
