He couldn't entirely remember how to breathe, really. Perhaps he was just tired, or maybe even he was scared or hurt or confused. He wasn't sure, but whatever it was, he had to remind himself to breath. 'In... out... in... out...' It was a constant chant inside his head, whispered in his mind, and his body responded to it vaguely, as though not entirely sure of its motives or capabilities. He was silent for a time, his eyes remaining closed, as he just focused on breathing. But a voice halted that thought process, and after exhaling, he forgot what he was doing and why. Change bandages? Oh, right, he was bleeding. Yes, good idea. Then his body reminded him of his need for oxygen by the burning in his lungs, and he breathed in.
He watched as the boy stumbled away, feeling the loss of warmth like he had been nailed with a blast of cold air. His body tightened, automatically getting smaller to try and replace that lost heat, but it was futile. Serphiues mentioned him coming up in five minutes, that everything would be ready for him. And the door... The door would be open, so he would know where to go. Gee, it was an odd feeling to have someone want him to stay with them to make sure he was okay; a very odd feeling. But he supposed it was odd in a good way, in a way that meant that someone, somehow, cared for him, even if it was only in a 'I'd rather not see someone kill themselves' kind of way. Then again, maybe Serphius saw him as a friend... He doubted it.
After a few minutes of holding himself, he remembered that he was supposed to wait five minutes or so and then go on up. He wasn't sure how long it had been, so he decided to give the boy a little more time. As he waited, he slowly untangled himself, slipping up onto the couch and sitting on the edge precariously. There he sat, head swimming a bit. He was dizzy, really, and he looked at his hand, the blood having pooled on the bandages and soaked through. He winced, knowing it wasn't going to be a pretty sight. But he needed to go up there now. He tried to get up and fell back down. Okay, well, maybe not just this second. He sat there for another minute, trying to relax and close his eyes.
After a moment, he slowly stood up, shaky and off-balance. He took small steps, holding onto anything he could reach, until he finally made it to the staircase. He looked up and sighed, his eyes falling onto the stairs as he climbed it. Once reaching the top, he walked down the hallway, and saw the open door. Stepping into the doorway, he knocked on the open door and looked inside cautiously, wondering if Serphius wanted him to just walk in or what. He decided to wait and see what he would say, knowing he wouldn't know where to go anyways. So what was the rush? Absolutely nothing. He had nowhere to go, except maybe a bed so that he could fall on it and probably not even get up for a while.
