"They're just one of my strange little quirks," Charlie said in response to Aeryn's view on the pops. She bit down on the rest of the lolly, pulling it off the stick which she flicked onto the nearest table. "I get cravings for them every know and again. You should see the looks I get from the guy at the sweet shop when I put in an order for three whole boxes a month..."
Charl adjusted her little skirt (so as not to flash anyone in the room), and wriggled into a more comfortable position instead of twisting round to talk to Aeryn. Slender eyebrows rose slightly when the red head asked if she missed her family. A breathy chortle escaped her.
"I miss them like a fucking hole in the head," she drawled, smiling, "Well, now, anyway. It was nice when I was little. We were like a real family when I was a tiny tot. The shit just hit the fan when my dad when missing. After that....Well, we were hardly the Brady bunch, to put it mildly. It's my sister's fault, really...."
Her jaw clenched slightly at the memory of August. To think she was sitting almost right below the room that....the room that her own sister had killed her best friend, chatting away about the details of family life with a new acquaintance little nothing bad had happened. It made her feel stupid.

Aeryn grinned, still gently licking at her Blood Pop. She’d never heard of a lolly being a quirk, but thinking about it, it kind of was. She started laughing when Charlie told her to imagine the guy’s face in the store, and she snorted, “Yeah, I can imagine. I bet you’re, like, the only person that buys them around here. Hey, if it weren’t for you, Honeyduke’s might get rid of them from their stock. When I go in there, I never see anybody buy them.”
The redhead bit on her lip when Charlie replied to missing her family. Obviously, she did. “Things are always fine when you’re little. For us, things just messed up a little when my cousins and I got voices, personalities and opinions for ourselves. Parents don’t like that. They want to control you forever, but then you go out and get arrested and your family never speaks again. That sucks.” Aeryn shrugged, a small laugh on her lips. She paused. “You have a sister?"
Wow, Aeryn. Touching on a sensitive subject there. Of course, she didn’t know anything that had gone in at the Lioano attack. She hadn’t even been at the school then.
{Short. My post is lame. ><;}

"True - I'm the only person I know that doesn't buy them just for some lame practical joke. If they ever got rid of my blood pops, I'm afraid I would have to subsequently bomb the shop," Charlie said, enjoying the nonsense banter she was talking. It was nice to have little relaxed chats with people you've just met. It made a chance from all the moping and drama that seemed to swamp the school at every opportune moment, "Christ, they're hard enough to get a hold of already..."
Charlie tilted her golden haired head a little to the side as she tried to think of a pleasant reply to Aeryn's question. Did she have a sister? Indeed I do, she thought rather bitterly to herself. Her name's August, and she hates me - reason unknown to man nor beast. I can't remember how old she is, and nobody knows where she lives anymore. She's a Death Eater that tortured me and killed my best friend. Hell, if you're lucky and we become friends, she might just kill you one day too! Hmm, perhaps that was being a bit too harsh...
"Mm, yeah, one older sister. August," Charl replied blandly, as though she wasn't very bother about her sibling. "I don't see her much at all, though she does have the tendency to rear her head every now and again at the worst possible times...We never got on, not even as little kids. I could never figure out why though...."

"I'll have to be there to witness that bombing," Aeryn said, nodding slowly. "Yeah. Lots of free candy, even if there aren't anymore Blood Pops." And yeah, the school - Beauxbatons, a.k.a Rape Central - had gotten a pretty depressing place. Aeryn hadn't even been there for any of the attacks and she could almost imagine what had happened by the sheer mood of the place and most of it's students. But at least she'd found a decently friendly person why wasn't going to whine about it all.
Ah, yes. Hmm, pretty harsh. That was a good way to stop a friendship from happening; warn you that you have a chance of being murdered by some twisted, psychopathic relative of the potential friend in question. Yeah. Just plain lovely. But at least Charlie hadn't voiced the thoughts out loud- yet.
Her reply was much different, however. Much more vague. man, ignorance really is bliss. Aeryn nodded along slightly and said something along the lines of, "Mm. Maybe some day you will see her again." Ch'yeah, the redhead had better wish she wasn't there when that day came.

"See her again?" repeated Charlie, again with a raise of an eyebrow. A very different sort of grin played on her lips at the very thought of it. Her right hand flexed a little. Was this girl really that ignorant? "God, I do hope so..."
Charlie blinked at Aeryn for a moment, as it eventually dawned on her that she hadn't actually been here for the Fina of Lioano attacks, and wouldn't have heard all the gossip about what had happened. Still, she was a little surprised that someone hadn't told her already. It seemed to have been a rather juicy subject for a while. Apparently, it was like something straight out of a bad TV drama, or so someone had told Charlie herself. You can imagine what sort of mood that had left her in for the rest of the day.
"Mmm, exploding candy shops..." Charlie said in a complete change of tone, "Cor, that would be quite cool, actually. It would be, like, raining Bertie Bott's Beans and Chocolate Frogs or something..."

Even Aeryn wasn't ignorant - or stupid, if you will - enough to miss the different sort of glint in Charlie's eye, however. It was a sadistic sort of glint, not the kind that you get in your eyes when talking about a loving meeting with a long-lost (well, not that long) sister. The redhead shrugged it off; she didn't know Charlie so well, and didn't know anything about her relationship with her sister, as of yet.
And, there were so many rumours about 'important' things - such as who's going out with who, who's been a total slut lately and that the new lip-gloss in town sucks - that the attacks hadn't really been talked about. After all, most people didn't want to relive the memories, and every house - well, excluding Intermise, but they were smart and some of them had already been through such traumas - had experienced the destruction now, so there wasn't much to talk about.
"Yeah, it would be awesome," Aeryn agreed, thinking about it. "But Bertie Bott's Every-Flavoured Beans - dude, that's a mouthful - suck. Most of them taste like crap and you only get, like, three of your favourite flavour." She made a face. "I think I'd prefer the frogs."

"No wayyyy!" Charlie objected with a mock shocked face which slid into her usual cheeky grin, "Choccie frogs over Bertie Bott's? Beans are obviously better. The frogs are boring and come with this lame little card. I mean, come on!"
With a careless laugh, she shook her head, loose caramel curls bobbing a little with the movement. She did like the chocolate frogs, but they were hardly fantastic. At least when you were eating Bertie Bott's it was exciting. God only knew what flavour you were going to end up munching! But then again, with a second thought, that wasn't necessarily a good thing....
"So Aeryn," Charl began again, promptly ending the confectionery conversation, "How long've you been going to Beauxbatons? I know you're kinda new, but I haven't seen you before. And no offense, but with hair like that, you're a bit hard to miss!"

"Lame?" Aeryn made her own shocked face, which was only half pretend. "You should see my cousin Finn's collection. I mean seriously, when him and Jason were in first year, they started collecting. Jace stopped because, well... It ain't cool." She laughed. "But Finn carried on. You wouldn't think it looking at him - I mean, he doesn't look like the total nerd that he is - but he has, like, almost them all." She shook her head, just remembering, with a small smile, for a moment or two. When they were younger, he used to try and show her them every time she went to their house. He'd stopped doing that by now, she was sure.
Ah, yes, but the Chocolate Frogs from Honeyduke's were different. They had that creamy kind of taste... but there was something else (sounds like the Aero hot-chocolate advert xP). They were much better than the cheap frogs that you could buy from just about every wizard candy shop standing.
Aeryn snorted out a laugh, and said, "No offense taken. And, I've only been here for a few days. A week, maybe. We moved over here because..." She paused, unable to remember what the real reason had been. "Well, it kept changing. One of my grandparents met their maker - don't worry, I didn't know them that well - so my parents shot us over here." It was weird; in her father's last letter he had sounded a bit stressed. He kept mentioning her uncle. Perhaps they were moving over here, too? Aeryn kind of hoped not. She didn't know how they'd react upon seeing her, especially Jason- he could hold one hell of a grudge.
