Elizabeth felt so lost. There had been another attack, and oh God... It was terrible. She had nearly lost it then when she had seen the first three... Matthew Jerrolds, Cove Bentley... and Jonathan Halliwell. Her jaw clenched as she sat looking out of the window in her office. Demon lay beside her, and she was absently scratching behind his ears. She paled at the memory. So much blood. It was amazing he had survived, and yet, had he really? He was in a coma. And it wasn't changing, despite their attempts to revive him. His sister... Faith wasn't taking it very well. She was a wreck. Elizabeth had reached out to her, and the small girl had opened up to the professor and told her everything. It must have been being pregnant, but she had taken care of her and just listened and held her as she cried.
She wasn't used to all of this. For one, she was carting around a rather large stomach these days, and of course she was carrying around that extra weight. With all of the stress, she tried to stay calm, because she didn't want to put her babies in harm's way, but she didn't really know what else to do... She stared out at the snowflakes falling outside the window, and she leaned over to allow her lips to barely hover in front of the glass. She then breathed out, watching the fog spread, and drew a small heart. The heart revealed the clear world outside with the snowy landscape and the white trees and treetops, and a faint smile flickered on her face before dying. She then stood and grabbed her wand, retrieving her book from the table and a bottle of water, and headed for the door.
As an afterthought, she reached over and grabbed her MP3 player. It was a muggle thing, but it allowed her to listen to music. It was good for getting away, ya know? She put the headphones in her ears and then left her room, Demon joining her this time. She rarely went anywhere without him. She hadn't seen Braeden in a while... Not since that day. Her throat tightened. She hated it. She had told him that day, and for the first time in her life, she was so afraid it hurt to even think about it. She was bringing these babies into the world around a school constantly barraged by Death Eater attacks and with a man who was a Death Eater in the past. That didn't bother her, except that they kept looking for him, and that put their children in danger.
She sighed, pushing all of that away. She pressed play, and the sounds of Saosin played in her ear. She was comforted listening to the words of "I Never Wanted To", and a faint smile once more showed before disappearing, buried within the huge emotional bomb she had become. She hated that part of this pregnancy, but whatever. Her feet carried her to the Hall of Baile, and she looked around, blinking. Well, this would do. It was nice and quiet, afterall... She slipped inside, shutting the door quietly, and walked around the room for a bit, smiling. They should have a ball... Yes. In the spring. After graduation... It would be good to get away from all of the bad things, even if it was just for one night... Finally, her feet came to rest as she sat in a chair against the wall.
Demon walked over and laid down by her feet, resting his head on his paws. She pulled her book up, opened it, and began to read. She was just glad to be able to get away from everything for a little while. She just wanted some peace and quiet. She was dressed today in a simple t-shirt and sweatpants, her hair pulled up in a messy ponytail. The ponytail was pulled up in a clip, and her hair tumbled from it in a very messy fashion, but it looked nice on her. A hoodie was fitted over her shirt. Surprisingly, her stomach wasn't as big as others' might be, seeing as she had been pretty thin before, but it was still harder to fit into her old clothes. That was a big downfall, but things would get back to normal after she had the babies. Which, she had figured out, would be in April. She was so happy and couldn't wait, but...
It frightened her beyond belief to think about all those 'what if's...
