A young kitten, just recently bought for Rosetta by her mother, Karma is very small. She has large, emerald green eyes, and a soft pink nose. Her fur has stripes of different shades of brown, tan, and a cream-like color. She has a white belly and white paws, and the fur around her mouth and around her eyes is white, as well as some spots around her ears and legs. She also has lng, white whisters. Her fur is rather short, but is very soft to the touch.
Biography:
Born on an icy morning in the middle of December, Rosetta Christine Lorenn led a regular life. Her mother was an artist; her father, a musician. Julia Marie and Jon Michael. Both were quite talented and made a good living off of their talents. The family lived in a rather large home and never ran into too many difficulties or problems for the most part, for quite some time.
At the age of five years old, Rosetta received the greatest Christmas present she could ever have gotten - a new baby sister. Late on Christmas Eve, just eight days after Rosetta’s fifth birthday, Kara Renée Lorenn was born. From that very moment, Rose had loved her more than anything. Of course she loved her parents too, but the girl hardly got to spend any time with them – they were both so very busy nearly all the time. Kara quickly became her best friend; no matter the age difference.
Rosetta had always been a good student. She always received high marks in school. She attended a nearby private school, and was intended to do so for the rest of her school years - that is, until she received a certain letter one summer morning.
"Hey... what's this?" A young dark-haired girl asked no one in particular as she took her seat at the Dining Room table, fingers lightly tracing the odd emblem that was the seal on the envelope. Rosetta glanced up just in time to see a worried expression upon her mother’s face. Her father, however, looked confused, as his daughter did not get much mail, but did not say anything.
“Um… let me see that, please,” came the soft voice of Julia Lorenn. The eleven-year-old girl obediently handed the letter over to her mother.
“What does it say, Mum?” Rosetta asked, after her mother appeared to have finished reading the letter. The woman’s mouth opened slightly as if to speak, but no words would form.
“Julia…?” Jon asked his wife curiously. The latter laid the letter down onto the table, and rested her hands upon it. Her mouth was still a bit open, and she remained silent for a few more moments before seeming to find her voice again.
“There’s… something I haven’t quite told you…” She said quietly. “I – well – I am a witch. And, apparently, so is Rosie…”
Jon simply stared at her in disbelief. “”What do you mean, you’re a witch? Of course you’re not.” He stated simply.<br>
Julia nodded weakly. “Yes… I am.”
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
“She is not a witch!”
“Yes, Jon, she is…”
“Neither are you!”
“Yes, Jon, I am…”
“Magic is not real, Julia!”
“Yes, Jon, it is…”
“THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THIS BEFORE?”
“I… I…”
“She is NOT going to that school!”
“But – Jon – please – you have to understand…”
“I understand! I understand that you’ve been lying to me all this time!”
Rosetta cringed as she listened to the shouts from her father, the helpless whispers from her mother. She still sat at the very same spot, her half-empty plate from Breakfast still sitting before her. Her parents had been fighting – or, rather, her father had been yelling at her mother – ever since the woman had explained how she was magical – a witch – and how she had gone to Beauxbatons Academy, rather than the school that she had told Jon that she went to. She had talked on for what seemed like hours, but might not have really been that long, and her husband had remained silent for a while. Then, about five to ten minutes of all of them sitting in silence, her father’s yelling and shouting spree began.
Rosetta looked over at her little sister, who was now six years old. The young girl’s eyes were tearing up, and she looked absolutely horrified by the yelling she heard from her father. The older girl gave her sister a weak, but reassuring smile. The six-year-old attempted to return the smile, but it didn’t work out so well, and so instead she rubbed her eyes with her hands.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Soon enough, Rosetta’s parents were divorced. Jon continued to live in the same house, while Julia moved out and bought a house of her own. Not quite as large as she was used to, but it was nice enough. The parents were given shared custody of the girls; and so the two of them switched between houses quite frequently. Rosetta was forbidden from attending Beauxbatons; her father would not have it, and there was no way that Julia could get her to go without him knowing, as the girl stayed with her father just as much as she stayed with her mother. And so, instead, she continued to attend Muggle (as she learned that this was the name for non-magical people, like her father) School.
As Julia was determined to have her daughter learn magic, she taught it to her whenever Rosetta was at her house. She homeschooled her; and probably actually taught her more than she would have learned in her first year at a Beauxbatons. She secretly took both girls to Diagon Alley, getting a wand and several books for Rose and a few little things for Kara, as well. Kara, at around age seven, had already started showing signs of being magical, herself, and so Julia told her that when she turned eleven, she would begin to teach her magic, as well.
Rosetta would come home from Muggle School, and then her Magic Schooling began – that is, when she was staying at her mother’s house. When she was at her father’s house, she would go to her room and read some of her books, studying Magic. Of course, she still had to study for Muggle School, which made things a bit difficult; but she got through it well enough, with quite good marks.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
However, this did not continue to go as planned. A few years later, Jon began shutting them inside their rooms, keeping them at his house for longer than they should have been. He would not even allow the girls to attend school. He would not allow them to return to their mother’s house, as he had suspected that she was up to something. He didn’t get away with it for long, though. Soon enough, he was found out and lost all custody of both Rosetta and Kara. And so, the girls, while a bit surprised, happily returned to their mother to live with her permanently.
Of course, Julia wanted nothing less than the best for her children. The best possible school. The only one close enough was Beauxbatons, and while she knew that Hogwarts was supposed to be a great school, she simply couldn’t move anywhere near there. And so, at age fifteen, Rosetta was allowed to begin schooling at Beauxbatons Academy as a fifth year, after Julia had explained their whole situation to the Staff.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Now in her Sixth Year at Beauxbatons, Rosetta is utterly amazed with the school. She is thoroughly enjoying it so far, though she does not have much to go off of as she is still quite new to the school. Overall, though, she was well-prepared for her fifth year; her mother had been quite a good teacher, though she was content with continuing with her artistic career, rather than starting a teaching one. Rosetta is beginning to adjust to the school, though she already enjoys it, as her sister is entering her first year at Beauxbatons.
Personality:
Rosetta takes after her mother; not only in appearance, but in personality as well.
She is a shy, passive girl who does not speak up much at all, and can be afraid to defend herself.
While she enjoys the company of others, she sometimes just wishes to be alone, and so that is what she does; goes into her room and quietly begins to read a book, draw in her sketchbook, write in her notebook, or do some other sort of peaceful activity such as this. Although, often she can be found outside doing the same thing, as she is quite a nature-lover at heart.
As Rosetta once had two different types of schooling to worry about, she has become quite an intelligent witch. She reads a variety of books very often, even if just for fun. She enjoys learning; especially about magic, for it is still quite exciting and great in her eyes.
Rosetta is also verey kind and polite to those she meets; though as shy as she is, it is difficult for her to talk to others, and so it is often awkward when she attempts to hold a conversation with someone. Nevertheless, Rosetta is kind, polite, and can even be friendly once she gets to talking to someone a bit. She may, in fact, be a bit too nice; for she is afraid of hurting the feelings of others, and so she often keeps her opinions to herself.
Appearance:
Rosetta, as stated earlier, looks almost exactly like her mother. She is just about at an average height. Her pale skin looks soft, and almost delicate, and is adorned with a few freckles. Her lips are a soft, light pink color, and she has clear, hazel-colored eyes underneath dark black eyelashes.
Rosetta’s dark brown hair is naturally highlighted just a bit with varying tints and shades of brown and blonde. It falls just a bit below her shoulders, though it can appear shorter if it is curled a bit. She often wears her hair differently; sometimes it is mostly straight, other times it has a slight wave to it, and then other times it is a bit curly. She doesn’t often wear her hair up, though, but occasionally she will.
Role-Playing Sample:
A fairly slender teenage girl stood grasping her trunk, foot tapping the ground slowly as she waited for her family to catch up with her. Patience was not something that the girl was familiar with; although, it was not as if her family had typically shown any more patience than she did. She was sure they had hardly noticed as she had slipped out of sight, quickening her pace gradually as she had refused to linger behind with them and listen to her mother fawn over her eleven-year old brother who was to enter Hogwarts for the first time this year, surely to be sorted into Slytherin as every member of the family had been – including the girl herself, surprising though it may be.
Ava Joyce Haile, though like her family in some ways, seemed to be the odd ball out amongst them. Of course Ava had been sorted into Slytherin – it was practically inevitable, as long as you were a blood relative of the Haile family. Despite being sorted into the predicted House, Ava had differed greatly from every single member of her family – with one exception. If there was anyone in her family that she was most like, it would be her father. A bit quieter than the others and less likely to blurt out whatever thoughts happened to come to her mind, Ava Haile was, in fact, similar to her father – although, she would never make the mistakes he had made in the past, such as resorting to join the Dark Lord and become a Death Eater.
In fact, the Sorting Hat had debated with itself on whether to place the girl in Slytherin or, perhaps, Ravenclaw, as Ava had often been one to care more about her studies than other things Slytherin students generally tended to value. Even after being sorted, Ava passed all of her classes with exceptionally good marks, and had never failed to turn in an assignment – though, perhaps she had turned assignments in a day late once or twice. But this was a very rare occasion.
Her appearance reflected both of her parents, however. Her thin, slightly freckled face and large, oddly colored blue-violet eyes were inherited from her mother, as were her pale skin and naturally slender form. Her just-about-average height was a quality she had received from her father, as well as her dark auburn hair, which fell in thin, straight locks down to her mid back. Ava had also inherited her father’s tendency to be a bit stubborn, and his lack of social abilities, including his carelessness towards what others thought about him. Nevertheless, he found it a waste of time and words to just mouth off at people whenever he felt like it. His only daughter was the same way. She could, however, be just as cold and rude as other Slytherins if she felt the need to be, but that was never really the case.
She sure did miss her father at times; having him there had made her feel less alone, rather than the odd ball out in the family. Well, she would have to learn to deal with it; to deal with the death of her father, which had occurred a few years previously.
Ava’s mother, Emilia, and younger brother, Levi, eventually met up with her in front of the brick wall that marked Platforms Nine and Ten. Not bothering to give Ava so much as a glance, Mrs. Haile smiled widely at Michael, “Go on, then,” she said, giving him a bit of an encouraging push as they took off at a run, heading straight between the 9 and the 10. Following them with her eyes, Ava sighed before running at the wall herself, still unable to keep her eyes open as she did so, even after five years of doing the very same thing. She emerged onto Platform 9 and three quarters, quickly making her way to the scarlet Hogwarts Express with a weak wave good-bye to her mother, who was too busy seeing Levi off to notice the gesture. Ava rolled her eyes, entering the train to begin her annual search for a decent compartment.
[Sorry, I got a bit lazy on the Personality and the Appearance… I hope they are still alright, though. And also sorry that this took forever... >< I kept forgetting about it or putting it off since it was a lot of typing. Haha. Sorry again.]
