The smooth stone bench the he so precariously perched upon had a faint warmth to it. Serphius could feel the very same heat on the back of his neck, where the sun beat down upon it. He held his head in his hands, one leg dangling off the bench, the other tucked beneath him. He sat so very still, just concentrating on the sounds around him, the birds, the wind, the...plinky-plonk of an acoustic guitar?! Dark eyes squeezed tighter shut, and opened suddenly, and he looked up, frowning. The dark haired boy bedecked in dark blue velvet and cream lace sitting across from him looked up, and smiled. Some how, Serphius felt that smile was warmer than any sun on his neck.
"Don't you do anything but loll about and sleep, Sephy?" Alexys asked, plucking a string, turning the little peg to tune it. His attention was turned back to the guitar. Serphius' features softened, and he shrugged.
"I'm afraid there isn't much else to do but "loll about and sleep" until classes start.....And I'm feeling like death at the moment..." Alexys glanced up at Serphius, and gave a single small nod. He knew all about it.
"Lexi?"
"Yes, Sephy?"
"Sing me a song....please?"
Alexys looked up, his dark eyebrows momentarily knotting together. After a moment, he shrugged.
"Well, what little tune would appease my Sweet Prince, hm?"
Serphius offered him a slow, and thankful smile as he pondered over a song.
"Sing me Mordred's Lullaby."
"What!? That silly old thing, that silly people, more to the point mothers, sing to their silly sprogs to shut them up for a while? I don't know where you get you taste in music, it's awful!"
"That's rich," Serphius replied sharply, pushing himself from the bench, and sitting close to Alexys, grinning "Coming from the boy who obsesses over Adam and the bloody Ants!"
"You like them too, I know you do!....Oh, fine. If you so wish, then I so do....Hem hem...
Hush, child, the darkness will rise from the deep,
and carry it out into sleep, child,
Darkness will rise from the deep,
and carry it out into sleep.
My only son,
I'll shape your belief,
and you'll always know
that your father's a thief.
And you wont understand
the cause of your grief,
but you'll always follow
the voices....Oh, Sephy, I can't, it sounds ridiculous coming from me!..."
"No, it doesn't, Lexi you sound fantastic, and you know it," Serphius urged softly, nudging the reluctant boy gently. Lexi rolled his eyes, took a breath, and started from where he left off.
"My only son,
your spirit will
hate her.
The flower who married
my brother the traitor.
And you will expose
his palatable behavior,
for you are the proof
of how he betrayed
her loyalty.
(this is lame....)
(Shut up, and go on!)
Hush, child, darkness will rise from the deep,
and carry it out into sleep, child.
Darkness will rise from the deep,
and carry it out into sleep.
My only son,
each day you grow older,
each moment I'm watching
my vengeance unfold.
The child of my vibe,
the flesh of my soul,
will die in returning
the birthright he stole....
Hush, child, darkness will rise from the deep,
and carry it out into sleep, child.
Darkness will rise from the deep,
and carry it out into sleep...."
Alexys trailed off, looking at Serphius with raised eyebrows. Serphius on the other hand seemed to be almost mesmerized, watching his friend with low lids, and a lazy smile. After a moment, he stirred, the smile growing, and let his lips brush Lexi's cheek softly. He moved away, back to his own bench. He nodded briefly to Lexi's old guitar, and smirked.
"As you were."
((Because I was bored, THATS WHY!!!))
