It was early evening, and twilight was starting to fall. The whole garden was filled with a wonderful comforting glow, but despite the golden light caressing his bare, pale skin, Serphius felt positively chilled. So silently he sat on a wrought iron bench, draped in black clothes, with his legs crossed beneath him a passer-by would have been forgiven for mistaking him for a shadow. In one cold hand he clutched a half bottle of Jack Daniels, a folded piece of paper held delicately in the other. His face was painfully blank, eyes almost shut. Serphius was clearly distraught, and equally as drunk. Even though he was sitting, he seemed to be off-balance, inclining to one side before clumsily over-correcting himself and almost falling off the bench on more than one occasion. No sound came from him, except the occasional unhappy sniff. All was quiet in the garden as thoughts hammered away at the inside of his throbbing head. In a brief moment of clarity, Serphius looked down in disgust at the bottle he clasped to his chest. Drowning himself wasn't going to do anything, except leave him feeling like death in the morning.
The reason he was drowning himself, however, was mainly about Alexys. As ever. After the Lioano attack, when Lexi was taken into hospital, where he remained, Serphius just about went mad. He didn't know what to think, except 'oh my god, he'd going to die!" or something along those lines. Such a panic he was in, because no one would tell him what had happened, and he was told not to visit for the time being, because the Medical Wing was so busy. Desperate as he was for someone - anyone - to comfort him, or even just talk to, he had absolutely no idea who to look for, nor could he bring himself to do it. Gaara? Cove? Elliot? Ashlei? What would he say to them when he came tumbling out of nowhere, tears trickling down his ashen face as he blubbed about God knows what? Why should they care anyway? He was scared, and upset as he pressed the bottle to his trembling lips again. By now, it was dark, save for a thin gold line lingering on the horizon. The air now was chill, and his back was starting to ache. Grief nestled weightily on his heart like a lump of ugly lead, and he mused despairingly over, well, everything. The paper in his hand was half-scrunched, and he remembered what was written on it...how could so few words make him feel such dread? It was so desolately quiet and lonely in the darkening garden. How positively miserable the night seemed.

Cove had been having a good day, unlike Mr. Serphius de la Ravin. He had been enjoying a nice relaxing day with friends and his cat, so all in all, it was a pretty excellent day. Granted, he was worried for his friend, Lexi, but he wasn't going to let that get him down, or keep him down, for that matter. Instead, he took the positive approach, knowing that his friend would be okay was heartening. So now he was simply trying to make the best of it so as to not be taken over by all the bad thoughts after the attack.
He had decided to take a walk in the gardens today. Why? Well, because it was just a beautiful evening, and he felt like taking a walk. He was quietly walking through the gardens, admiring the beautiful flowers and plants as he did. It was truly a remarkable place, and he decided then that it would be one of his favorite. He was running through songs in his head, content to let them play out. Hey, what was life without some music every now and then?
His quiet walk was interrupted when he heard a sniff. He looked around, blue-gray eyes finally landing on a nearly invisible form. He stepped closer, noting that it was Serphius. Well, what was his friend doing out here all alone? And drinking, of all things? He walked closer to the distraught man, and soon he was standing in front of him. "Serphius?" His voice was soft, though it held worry within its depths. He then continued, sitting beside his friend. "Hey... It's okay. I'm here. You can talk to me, okay? You shouldn't have to go through this alone..." He was always there for his friends, and Serphius was no different.
((I told you I would post. =P))

It took a moment for Serphius to register the comforting voice and the ever so nice boy sitting beside him. Embarrassment and shame rapidly expanded inside him, and he didn't say anything for a moment, merely covered his drawing face with his hands.
"I don't know what's going on," he said weakly after a while. He forced each syllable through clenched teeth, not allowing himself to slur, "Nobody'll tell me what's happening....I'm so scared...I don't know if he's dead or not...they won' let me see him! Oh God, Cove, you shouldn't be here. You shouldn't see me like this..."
Tears stirred in his eyes, and he brushed them quickly away with the back of his shaking hand. Avoiding looking at his friend, he hugged his knees desperately, chewing his bottom lip. So his sister was dead, and his best friend could be for all he knew. And to cap it off he'd heard from someone that he usually spelled a delicately deadly trouble for him. A flash of feeble anger, and he flung both the Jack Daniels and the note away from him as though they were hot to the touch. The note fluttered gently to the ground a few feet away, and the bottle landed in a near-by flower bed, disappointingly without smashing.
"Everythin'...everythin's just falling apart."
His voice was barely louder than the faint whisper of wind that gently stirred the leaves of the garden. Serphius shook his head.
"You shouldn't be here," he repeated, "But I'm so glad you are..."

He looked at his friend, something stirring within him. Perhaps for the first time in a long time, Cove was feeling this... sadness. He knew what Serphius was going through... When he had lost his aunt, his best friend, he had been completely lost. However, Serphius hadn't lost Lexi. For all they knew, he was very much alive. Perhaps they just wanted to make sure he was okay...
He then spoke and said reassuringly,"I'm not going to lie to you, Serphius. I don't know much more than you. However, if he were dead, they would have told us. They couldn't hide it for long, and family and friends would have to be notified. They're probably just wanting to make sure he's okay and nothing else is wrong with him that they didn't catch the first time. He'll be okay. As a matter of fact, I'm sure that he'll be back before you know it..." He meant that, too.
He nodded slowly to his next statement. He knew that feeling as well. There was no smile to lift the corners of his lips this time, however. Instead, there was only a frown, both of worry and the desire to see his friend smiling once again. Even the blushing and stuttering would be great signs right now, seeing as it would mean he was going to be okay. He had watched as the bottle and note were thrown, but he didn't move or even flinch. He was used to these things... "I'm here now, Serphius. And I'm not going anywhere. That's what friends are for..."
((Kinda crappy, but what can I say? xP I'm just crazy right now... Mostly distracted, though.))

Serphius nodded mutely, taking in Cove's logical and calm explanation as best he could. He moved closer to he friend, and delicately rested his pounding head on his shoulder. He could feel a gentle heat through the fabric. It was mildly comforting.
"You're right. You're prob'ly right. I'm bein' stupid. They...they told me almos' right away when she died. It prob'ly wouldn't be any different for him..." he mumbled, his mouth and throat feeling dry and tight. He quite suddenly wish he hadn't through his scotch away. Would it be bad if he went into the bushed to get it back? He'd decided against it, as he would more than likely fall over and not be able to get back up again. His balance was bad enough when he was stone cold sober.
"You know," he said with the smallest of mirthless laughs, "I might even miss that stupid bint. She was the good one. Yeah, I know, I called her a whore, yeah, I know I never said a nice thing to her, or about her, but she was the good one. I'm sure she's saved my life more than one...saved me from him...for it. It's just us two left...." Serphius's voice changed tone slightly. It was a different sort of scared," "Just us left. Please, Cove, don't let him get me again!"
(Hm, writer's block. Can you tell? And he's talking about Felicia and Asmo)

Cam was worried about Phoenix of course, but at the same time he found that he didn't miss her constant mirthless glare. The young adolescent needed someone to shadow, even if they weren't to know it. Well, he had decided to shadow Serphius. One of the only older kids to ever talk to Cam, to acknowledge his shadowy presence. So the fourteen year old had taken to secretly fallowing the older boy around. Even if it ment walking a few kids behind him between classes, and hiding in bushes or behind bookcases. It was amazing that he hadn't been found out, then again...he was infamous for being invisible. The slender but ever growing boy had watched Serphius intoxicate himself with wide eyes, the black liner designs around them making them seem like doe eyes. Black hair that had fallen down into his face had hidden his one eye, as he watched from the tree above them. He was laying on his stomach across the strong branch, his arms crossed and his cheek resting against it.
Ever emotionaly unbalanced, when Serphius had sounded so sad, it made tears fall from Cam. They had made his liner weep across his one cheek, and smudge onto his arm. Now he bit on his peirced lip, tongue touching the cool metal to try and stop himself from crying. Silently telling himself in a voice Phoenix would use to suck it up and be man. It's working...sorta. I miss Phoenix at times like this. I do. The young boy hadn't ment to move his leg, the muscle just sort of spasmed from being still for so long, and out fell the raven from its perch. Cam hit the ground just to the right of Cove, with a harsh thump. ooooooooh, he whimpered in his mind. He jerked upward, and scooted backwards on his butt a little bit, before curling up into a little ball. His noire head resting on his knees as he tried to hide from them. Even if he knew they had already seen him.
Suck it up! Explain, speak...come on you stupid child do something! He yelled at himself inside, mentally throwing bricks at his own face. His head jerked up and he said in a quiet voice, "I-i-i'm sorry. I j-j-j-ust...uhmmm..." he couldn't finish his sentance, it was a wonder he even spoke. He could feel the throbing under his shirt on his side, he probably bruised a rib. At least he knew nothing was broken, he wiped his black sleeved sweater across his cheek, trying to hide the fact that he had been crying. In the last few weeks he had started to look up to this group of boys, always laughing and having fun during class. What were their names again? Serphius, Alexys, Elliott (my cousin), G-Gaara, Cove? Yes, that one is Cove! Cam sat there on the ground, staring at the two with large eyes, as if a six year old again sitting at the feet of his older brother. When his brother was alive, just sitting and watching...admiring. Yes, that was the word, admiring.
((Was listening to Mal'chik Gei by T.A.T.U. Listen to it, it such a nice song. Sounds like Cam. x3)
O.o.c// I said I would post Cam here. I took the oppertunity. xDD

Cove listened to his friends intently, sorrow piercing through those bright eyes and filling their blue-gray depths. Serphius rested his head on his shoulder, and he gently rested his head against his friend's. He wanted him to be comfortable as much as possible, seeing as he couldn't do anything else to help him besides listen. Soon, however, Serphius was speaking again, and he listened once more, saving his thoughts and words until afterwards.
"I won't let him get you, Serphius." It was spoken softly, but his voice was firm. There was no way he would let anyone hurt his friends! He slipped his arm behind his friend, pulling him a little closer. He didn't want him to freeze out here, knowing that alcohol lowered your body temperature. And Serphius by far wasn't wearing very thick clothing. "And I know they would have told you. That means he's alive, though if he were seriously hurt they most likely would have told you as well. That must mean that they simply don't want too many visitors and just want to monitor him for a while..."
Then someone fell to the ground near them, and he jumped slightly, his eyes widening a little in surprise. He had certainly not expected that. However, he quickly recognized the boy as being Cameron Laurier, Elly's cousin. A smile quickly curved the corner of his lips, and he spoke to the boy kindly. "There's no need to apologize, friend. Are you okay?" That had been a pretty good fall, so he wanted to make sure nothing was broken or bleeding. That wouldn't be good. Besides, this was Elly's cousin, and he wanted to take good care of the younger lad.

"I want to see them back okay so bad," Serphius said pathetically. Cove had put his arm round him a moment before, though he only just realized. Something shook in his head, and he struggled with the urge to embrace the gentle boy and shower him with affectionate and needy kisses. Serphius blushed faintly, and looked away again. He could think foolish thing when he was drunk...
And then the distraction he'd been looking for practically landed in his lap. He gasped quite loudly when Cameron landed heavily on the ground close to the bench. He didn't know wither to laugh or be angry. How long had he been up the tree? Co-incidence? Or had Cam been watching him? Serphius felt a little uncomfortable.
"So pretty boys do grow in trees, eh?" Serphius imagined that if Lexi was here, that's exactly what he would have said. Being inseparable for years meant predictability. Black eyes glanced at Cove, to gauge a reaction. It was okay. Not a flash of anger. Was this angel of a boy ever anything but nice? After a moment of inconspicuous ogling, Sephy directed his attention back to the fallen boy. Delicately, he gave Cove a subtle squeeze, as though he was trying to get as much warmth as he could from him, before sliding carefully off the bench. He landed on his knees, maybe two or so feet away from Cameron. It had been a while since their meeting in the common room. Dark eyes narrowed briefly. This little Intermise was like deja vu on legs. It was a curious feeling. Serphius noticed that Cam had quickly wiped away the remnants of tears from the pallor of his cheeks. He blinked, his expression softening. Why had he been crying? Had he been crying for him...?
Serphius reached out for Cam, thinking that the poor guy must have been pretty shook up - after all he'd just fallen out of a rather substantial tree. And to honest, he just wanted something warm to hug as well. But his hand stopped before it reached him, and he shrank away. He knew that when he was that age, even being bumped into in the corridor was enough to reduce him to sobbing, never mind snuggling. Sephy pressed a hand to his head. He actually wanted to be sober again for a moment. A thick nausea and a throbbing headache had settled into his body, and he squeezed his eyes shut. Well, if he was going to drink himself into a stupor, he was going to pay the price, right?

Cam looked up at Cove, Why do you care? he blinked a few times then looked back down at his hands. The individual creases that made his palm his own, he clenched his fingers into a fist, fingernails leaving crescent moon shapes that he stared at when he unclenched his hand. A white hair thin line made its way down from his wrist, it was caused by Phoenix when he had been in the first year, and she had used him as her prey in a prank. He ran his index finger down the line that was nearly invisible against his pale skin, then a movement from the bench made him jump his black hair dusting into his eyes again. Why is he moving closer? Stop...stop! Cam's eyes widened as Serphius seemed to inch closer to the young boy, a hazed look in his eyes from the alcohol. The tips of Cam's shoes turned inward as if Cam was trying to squish himself into a tiny ball and go unnoticed. Then the older boys hand started to stretch out, and Cam shivered slightly, knowing that if he backed up it could potentially be veiwed as rude. His nose twitched, and he drew his head back slightly, but the hand closed and went back to Serphius' side.
Cam watched the older boy with a certain curiosity, like he had been doing nearly all week, grey eyes peering through his thick bangs. He decided that he had to say something before one of them decided to actually touch him like Serphius had just come so close to doing. "I-I'm fi-" The plan hadn't worked out so well, Cam had risen to his knees, fingers splayed out on the ground as he prepared to get up and run off back into the shadows. After all, being invisible was what he did best and liked best, but he hadn't planned of the sudden flash of darkness that clouded his senses as soon as he lifted his head. He lurched forward, the base of his hands jarring into the ground, and he closed his eyes. Not the time for this...not the time for this!. Cam sometimes got something called 'Tunnel-vision', it was almost like fainting but staying concious, where all the blood pooled from his brain down into his lower limbs, the lack of pressure causing his eye-sight to waver and dissapear for a few moments. It happened every once and awhile, like if he got up suddenly after sitting for awhile, this was from falling out of tree and curling into a ball. Please... He waited for his vision to clear again before even attempting to move from his bowed down posistion. This must be how Serphius feels, as if the earth has no gravity...and I don't even need the liquor.

Cove nodded gently. He knew... Oh, how well he knew what Serphius was going through. It had been like this when he had lost his aunt, his one sole comfort throughout his life. When she had gone, his step-dad had come, and he became his family. There was no need for his mother... She did not particularly make it into his "Family and Friends" book. But his father had come back, and he had been beaten for quite a bit longer in his life. He forced himself to swallow the memories, and the vomit that threatened to emerge from his sealed lips. Just the memories alone were bad enough...
He then felt the gentle squeeze from his friend, having vaguely caught the blush, and he watched as he dropped to the ground and inched nearer to Cameron. He saw the shivers from the younger boy, and he knew that he was only staying where he was for fear of being rude. Serphius, however, seemed to think better of his choice to reach out for the lad, and withdrew his hand. The boy then began to try and get up before his sentence was cut off and he dropped a bit towards the ground. Cove was instantly on the ground beside Serphius, concern knitting his brow together. Something was wrong...
"Hey, are you okay? Cameron? What's happening?" He needed to know what was happening, especially if there was anything they could do to help. He didn't try and go nearer to the boy, and he didn't try and touch him. He knew he wouldn't succeed that way at any rate. Instead, he rested one hand on Serphius's shoulder and the other on his legs, thin body tense as he awaited a response from Cam. Briefly, he wanted Elly here, just so he could possibly help them in this situation. A familiar face might have been much more helpful in this situation...
((Bah. *kills it* 'Tis of the suck...))

Serphius should have expected such an adverse reaction to his movements, but Cameron still surprised him. He shuffled backwards quickly, hands covering his mouth. His throat felt tight. Oh Lord, he wasn't going to start crying again, was he? Sephy shut his eyes tight, blinking away stinging tears.
"I'm sorry," he said in a strange half whimper, half sob. An overwhelming wave of pity washed over him tragically. Serphius realized there would be differences between them, but looking at the cowering boy, he couldn't help but think I've been there. This little one hadn't found his real Lexi yet, had he. That Phoenix girl was bad for him, Sephy decided. He's picked the wrong person to latch onto - or has he? Starless tar-coloured eyes couldn't quite bring themselves to look away from Cam. What had made him like that? Was it the oh-so-familiar tale of a bad family? Abuse? Or was he just a mournful little boy?
Serphius wormed his way closer to Cove again, his hand reach out for, and taking his. It was warm. He hadn't realized truly how cold it was getting, out there in the distant darkness of the flower beds in the secluded garden.
"Should we, uhm...get someone for him?" he struggled to say, and he felt like his lips weren't moving they way he wanted them too. They felt numb. Was it really such a dark night, or was his sight beginning to fade with the rising of the uncomfortable sickness he was feeling? Never drink again. Never.
"A...uh...N-nurse?"

The black dots soon began to dissapate, and the blades of grass and dirt beneth his fingertips began to be clear. He blinked a few more times, his head still feeling slightly woozy, then he tuned into what the two boys were saying. He looked up, grey eyes wide in their black lined sockets, his mouth gaped slightly before he closed it. He pushed himself backwards, falling back into a sitting posistion. "I'm fine!" He hadn't ment to yell it, but all the anxiety in the air was getting to him. It was a wonder the timid boy had the vocal strength in him after stuttering before, but it was clear and forceful. "I'm....fine..." he muttered to himself, his bangs fallen back into his face like a curtain.
He gnawed on his lip for a moment, then a thought struck him, if these two told Elly. Oh boy...I'd been in for it. Elly would attach me to his side for the rest of my life! Cam started to shake his head as he got to his feet nimbly, "D-don't tell El-ell-iott" there, the nervous stutter repronounced itself again. He rubbed his cheek, further smudging the runny makeup. He stood there, one hand against his cheek, and the other clenched into a fist at his side. Cam had seen things early in his life, like the murder of his older brother whom had been more like a father to him then his real one, and the pressure to become a death eater like his parents...he couldn't cope with the stress. So he locked himself away, essentially became a shadow.
Cam's finger tips gently grasped his bangs and tugged them downward, before sitting back down, he had nowhere to go. There was no Phoenix to be bossed around by, and he didn't want to go sit all alone in the museum again. So his grey eyes stared up at the two older boys, rather blankly on the surface, while beneth he was feverently observing and calculating.

Suddenly, Cove's hand was in Serphius's, and he nearly jumped out of his skin. He looked at Serphius, noting that the boy was cold. He gently wrapped his other arm around Serphius's shoulders, pulling him a little closer to keep him warmer. He noted the choked-back tears in his voice, and without even thinking he gently pressed his lips to the top of the younger boy's head, wishing he could simply comfort him more than he already was.
He looked at Cam when he seemed to be better, speaking at least, and offered a small smile. "I won't tell, Elly, though I should hope it is nothing serious. Does it happen often?" He was sincerely interested, and he was actually worried about the boy. It was in his nature to care about others, even if they held evil in their hearts. "I promise you, there's nothing to be afraid of. You don't have to trust me yet, but I do care about you, so please be careful."
((That was weird. xD))
