It had puzzled Charlie when the librarian had told her to hush. She'd just set foot in the dusty place, and already she was being frowned upon. Somehow, it gave her a little bit of comfort, knowing that total silence ensued when she retreated into the soothing dusty shadows, seeking, and finding, some well earned solitude.
Such a clash, so early in the day, it had drained her, especially since she wasn't feeling her best. Her head still throbbed, but the pain felt distant, and far away. She felt she needed the darkness of the library, far at the back, through a maze of book cases. Vaguely, she got the impression that no one had been in the very furthest recesses of the library. Her footsteps were muffled by the smothering layer of ash coloured dust that carpeted the floor. The light somehow didn't seem to reach here, though the windows on the wall weren't too far away. Everything was utterly quiet. It was exactly what she was looking for.
Letting her touch, and gaze wander as she made her way further from the front desk. The books got thicker, the texts getting older, and more curious. Charlie was fascinated by the rows and rows of ancient literature. Some books moved, some made noises, like a low humming, that was pleasing to the ear. It made her want to read the book, to pick it up and pour over it - but she wasn't here to read about "Moste Anchente And Powerfull Vexing Hexes, And Calus Curses", though come to think of it, they could come in handy.
Eventually, in the peaceful gloom, Charlie managed to find a heavy, but small carved table. Wiping the dust from it, and the small leather covered seat beside it, she sat down. Using the soft glow from her wand, she managed to see what was around her more clearly. She was surprised how many cobwebs there were. Letting her still lit wand roll gently from her fingers onto the table, Charlie let her weary head rest on her arm.

After leaving the hall, Adam had wandered up Ice Pass to the exit, heading for the Lioano common room, but had bumped into Professor Andrews, who was on his way to his classroom. God, he was sure that that teacher was out to get him... Anyway, the teacher reminded him about a detention that the previous professor had given him, and that it was still noted down. Andrews had told him that he didn't have to attend the detention if he wrote him an essay.
Great.
So, pushing open the door to the Library, Adam entered, sighing. Just what he needed on a day like this; extra work. He walked to a bookshelf, absentmindedly scanning the books for the one that he needed. A soft glow of a lit wand caught his eye, and he turned his head, walking toward it.
It was Charlie, he noticed.

At first Charlie though the approaching footsteps had been part of her dream. She had been dreaming that she was lying on a huge four-poster bed. Her hands and feet were bound, and she had a blind fold on. She was scared - she didn't know where she was. There were voices too, whispers. She couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but she knew it was important. Sometimes something touched her - usually her face, or legs, which made her kick and squeal. In real life, however, she merely twitched, and snuffled unhappily. through her blindfold, she could see a light far away, which faded in and out of sight at random. Then, the footsteps came, and the light grew stronger, but the bonds on her hands and feet were holding her down tightly. In the dream, and in reality, she gave a little desperate moan.

Adam went to turn, seeing a brightly coloured spine of a book that might just be the one he was looking for, but Charlie made a tiny little noise and a movement, that made him stop and glance at her. What was the matter? She must be dreaming, he guessed.
He made to leave again, but hearing her moan, turned around, and went over, kneeling by her on the floor. He gently placed a hand on her arm and murmured, "Charlie? Charlie... are you okay?"

Charlie awoke with a small jump when she felt a warm hand on her arm. She looked up, eyes wide, and quite frightened, child-like even. On seeing that it was just Adam, she looked relived, and sat up, cheeks blushing scarlet, "Just - Just a bad dream," She managed to stumble out, embarrassed that he had found her asleep, and not only that, but she had been frightened of a bad dream, "That's all..."

Adam smiled at her jumpiness. It wasn't usual to see Charlie so... helpless, defenseless. "A dream? Must have been bad. What did you dream about?" he asked, looking up at her.

"I was tied up on a bed, and blindfolded. I couldn't move, or see...There was a light, but it kept going away, and voices, but I couldn't understand what they were saying! And something was touching me....It actually sounds quite kinky when I say it out loud like that...but I was so scared!" Charlie admitted, looking quite sheepish. She looked down at the table, hands folded in her lap, then back up to Adam, "Thank you for waking me up..."

"It does, actually. I was about to ask why you disliked the dream so," Adam said, grinning. "But I understand. I get what you mean, now." He stood up, and sat in front of her on a stool opposite. "My pleasure. It was all I could do for someone so helpless and in such need..." He smirked again. "This library always slightly creeps me out, for some reason... Must remind me of a video game or something. What were you doing in here?"

"I'm not...wasn't...and arn't helpless or in need. Much. And I was, er, em, looking for a book. For...Potions! Yeah...I'm falling behind quite a bit. I...I must just drifted off or something." Charlie said, fumbling for an excuse. Not that she really needed one. It was quite clear that she had been seeking the peace and quiet of the darkest part of the library. At the last part, she looked a little bit puzzled.
"So....What's a video game?"

"Nope. Of course you weren't. Still, I'm glad I could help you, anyway." Adam nodded persuasively. "That's wierd... I was looking for a book on Potions, too. Something about a potion to fix the effects of a love potion... But oh well. That can wait until later." He shrugged, grin on his face.
"You don't... know what a video game is?" He looked rather surprised, but realized that, as a witch, she wouldn't know what a game was.
"It's... Well, because Muggles don't have spells and cool moving paintings and broomsticks and stuff, they make these machines that show movie type things, except that YOU are in control of the main character. It's like, a virtual person." He shrugged again. "It's really hard to explain..."

"Oh, er, right then. It sounds....Interesting! So...why do you find out how to reverse the affects of a love potion? Don't tell me you've been smitten!" Charlie grinned, and laughed at the last part, "Or perhaps you're brewing one yourself? Hm, wonder who ever for....Do tell!"

"No, no, I'm not. I'm not that desperate that I need to resort to a Love Potion to get a girl to like me!" He winked. "I simply win her over with charm and cute clumsiness. And unexpected, drunken kisses, of course." Adam grinned, eyebrows raised. "Can't forget those..."
"No, Andrews made a deal that I didn't have to go to this detention if I wrote him an essay. Pathetic git."

"Mm, who can resist your cute clumsy drunken charms indeed," Charlie said, a grin tugging at the corner of lips, "And I, of course, simply adore that old grumpy git-face. I do believe the feeling's mutual. He seems to take great pleasure in torturing me, and randomly springing out in dark corridors specifically with the purpose of causing extreme discomfort and general nausea. And another thing - why the fuck can't he get his own crap? he seems to have a steady stream of students trotting back and forth along that stupid freezing path thing. And why is that so cold? Can't they light a fire or something, warm it up a little?"
