"You took my hand
You showed me how
You promised me you'd be around
Uh huh
That's right
I took your words, and I believed
In everything, you said to me
Yeah huh
That's right."
A sweet, high voice rang out, echoing slightly in the large hall. The source of the voice was not a student, but the Headmistress herself, as she moved throughout the room.
She was planning for balls or disco type things in the future, working out where certain things would go. Adeline knew that it was really far too early to be planning out things like that, but she was bored, and wanted to do something fun and... creative. This was the best thing she had found to do.
"If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong
I know better
Cause you said forever
And ever
Who knew?"
The song was from a muggle artist, but Adeline had heard it once or twice outside the school. She had looked up the words, and now enjoyed singing it. Hey, why shouldn't she? She was alone. The door was unlocked, but closed, and she was pretty sure that there wasn't anyone outside with their ears pressed up against the door.
She was young, and free, and she loved the song. Why not?
She moved a discarded chair, observing the wall and floor behind and beneath it, moving easily in her flat flip-flops. After looking about herself, she sat down upon the chair, sighing, but continuing with her singing.
"Remember when we were such fools
And so convinced and just too cool
Oh no
No no
I wish I could touch you again
I wish I could still call you friend
I'd give anything
When someone said count your blessings now
For they're long gone
I guess I just didn't know how
I was all wrong
They knew better
Still you said forever
And ever
Who knew?"
The young woman was dressed in light, thin clothes today.
It was warm, the sun filtering through cracks in the gigantic curtains covering the windows, and the Headmistress was quite glad with what she'd chosen.
Her top half was covered with a pink tee-shirt, it's sleeves short, almost none existent even. She was wearing a white denim skirt that reached to just above her knees. She was a person, after all, not just a teacher that you would expect to wear trousers and jumper every day.
"Yeah yeah
I'll keep you locked in my head
Until we meet again
Until we
Until we meet again
And I won't forget you my friend
What happened
If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong and
That last kiss
I'll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes
It harder
I wish I could remember
But I keep
Your memory
You visit me in my sleep..."
She stood from the chair, still looking about herself. Her smooth, shining hair was, as usual, pulled back, this time into a clip. Glittering stones were at her ears, and she had a little anklet on, which glistened in the light.
If someone were to some in right then, she wouldn't have noticed at all.
"My darling
Who knew
My darling
My darling
Who knew
My darling
I miss you
My darling
Who knew
Who knew?"
You showed me how
You promised me you'd be around
Uh huh
