Mirabelle smiled, and shrugged again. "Intermise," she said, nodding thoughtfully. "No particular reason. You just... look like one. I don't know. A tall, silent, intelligent type." She paused, before assuring quickly, "Which is good, by the way. A good first impression."

He smiled, looking back at her, and said,"Thanks..." He suddenly had the urge to actually play a piano. There was a song that was stuck in his head, and he wanted to get it out, but he would take care of that little problem later... "I'm glad I made a good first impression... They tend to mean a lot at some point." He smiled, picking up a leaf from the bench and twirling it between his fingers. He watched it absently. "I'm not always this silent... But it takes me a while to get used to new places..." He looked up at her. "Adam understands, though. We've been best friends ever since I went to Durmstrang..."
A thought struck him, and he added,"Adam MacKeltar, not McElroy... And contrary to popular belief, Durmstrang's not all bad... Sure, it is a rather dark school in some ways, but look at me. I'm not a Death Eater, I'm not fascinated with the Dark Arts, and I'm not running around like a maniac killing people." There was a bitter smile at this. She didn't know of his past, and he wasn't going to tell her. She didn't need to know about his father, or about Adam and Anastasia. He would protect those two with his life if he had to. "What about you? Have you went here all your life?"

"I know... But I try not to judge by first impressions. Sort of... seen as mine isn't the best. I seem to gather enemies much faster than friends..." Belle thought about it for a moment, before saying with a small smile. "Which isn't too good."
"You're not that silent," she said. "Plus, there is the fact that we've just met, so I wouldn't really expect you to be wittering on like a demented owl. See? Misleading first impressions..."
Mirabelle nodded. She had given him her full attention when he mentioned an Adam, but as it turned out to be a different one, also in Lioano, she shrugged. "I've never thought that Durmstrang was bad. Why would someone come to believe that? I mean, apart from it's former Headmaster being a Death Eater... But still, I had a friend transfer there some time ago, and she's okay." Come to think of it, Belle hadn't received a letter from her for God knows how long... "I shouldn't think that you were a murdering maniac, either, and you should feel lucky that I don't!" She smiled, missing his.
Belle thought about his last question for a second, before answering, "...Basically. I started my education here when I was twelve."

He laughed slightly and said,"Yeah. That's definitely not the greatest thing to do..." He smiled and shook his head slightly, as though trying to wake up more.
His smile widened, almost to a grin, and he said,"'Wittering on like a demented owl'? That's a new one. Nice. I'll have to use that sometime..." He shifted slightly to a more comfortable position. "No, I don't usually 'witter on like a demented owl', though I have my moment where people may wish for me to stuff it..."
He laughed and said,"Yes. No murdering maniac here... Well, maybe there's a squirrel bent on revenge for being chased by a cat, but otherwise, nope." He glanced down at Niko, seeing the cat stretch, stand up, and walk off to explore the area more. He turned back to Mirabelle. "Yes. There was that whole ordeal, but otherwise, it's actually a great school... Colder than Hell is hot, but still."
"When you were twelve? I started school when I was eleven... Is it different here?" His head was cocked slightly to the side, the curiosity evident in his face.

"It really isn't." Belle drifted away in thought for a minute, before shrugging once more and shaking the thoughts away.
"Yeah, I have no idea where that pretend saying came from... I just made it up. Damn my run-away mouth." She stopped talking. She herself had started wittering on like... well, a demented owl. Oh dear. "Come on. Who would tell you to stuff it? You've hardly gotten a word in edge ways so far." She grinned, eyes teasing.
Mirabelle shot him a look, smile still on her face. "I swear, if I walk into the common room after this chat to see Sweetheart - my cat - half dead with a mad, knife-clutching squirrel over her, I'm blaming you!" She laughed, also switching her gaze from Caliban to his pet.
Belle shook her head. "No, it's not different, but my father... he was... he had certain beliefs and stuff. Oh, I don't know... he just didn't send me to school. He was... well, in the end I got away. To come here. Luckily I caught up pretty fast with all my learning." It was the truth. Just not in detail.

He smiled and said,"My friends, actually. Once I warm up to people, I generally tend to talk more and more. Especially since none of them are morning people, and I'll just chat away. I usually get the glare or the 'go to hell' look." He shook his head slightly.
He laughed and said,"Okay, but let's hope it doesn't come to that!" He could just see it now. A squirrel holding a bloody knife over the body of a dead cat. Man, lovely images there.
He nodded, understanding she didn't seem to want to talk about it. He let it drop and instead asked,"So, what do people normally do for fun around here?"

Mirabelle laughed. "I know that feeling. But for me, it's not with friends." She had to smile. "Just, you know, people in general, most of the time." She pretended to think, grinning. "Ah, the 'go to hell' look. Good times, good times..."
Belle shot him a playful look. "Yeah, you better hope it doesn't come to that. Like I said: if it does, I'm blaming you." She was still smiling as she said this, though.
"Well, there's the library..." She said this quite seriously, but burst out laughing to show that she that she was kidding. "What can I say? I'm boring." She rolled her eyes at herself sarcastically before continuing. "No, I was kidding there. There's the pools, Shaded Nights, chilling in the common room with friends, going out for meals and things outside school grounds... That sort of thing, I guess. I don't usually do them, seen as, you know, it kind of sucks to do them alone."
A small grin was on her face, the kind that would make a person think Belle didn't mind being by herself in the slightest. "But you get used to it, after a while." She looked down fondly at Caliban's pet. "And companions help; of course."
