She smiled at him and said,"Everyone get scared sometimes, Alex. Every one of us..."
When he came over to her and knelt down, she looked at him, feeling his hand on her arm. It was comforting. Just the fact that someone cared, and the warm touch of another being. It made her feel... safe. She laid her hand on his and looked into his eyes. She managed a smile and whispered,"Thank you..."
She smiled and said,"I know you're trying to hide something, and I can pretty much tell what it is. But don't worry, I'm not going to hate you for it." She winked at him. No, maybe try and break him of it, but she wasn't going to hate him.

"Yeah, most, but not me. Not anymore," he shot back sharply, before looking down and adding quietly, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap."
As Aimee's eyes met his, Alex smiled in return, rubbing her arm, and said, "It's okay. Hey, 's what I'm here for, right? I may not be able to help too much, but comfort don't cost a thing."
His smile cracked as she continued to speak, and she got what she wanted out of him without even trying. He sighed, and admitted, "Alright. I'm a bit of a player. But that's only because it's... well it's... it's so easy." He looked slightly ashamed. ... Perhaps it wasn't the whole truth, though. He had sort of... lost confidence once he'd got cheated on. The girl before had hurt him a lot. Seriously. Now he had one night stands because... you couldn't get cheated on with those, could you?

She looked at him, a little surprised as he snapped at her, but it didn't phase her. She'd had worse. Much worse. "Don't worry about it. It's understandable to get defensive. You've gotta keep your reputation, afterall." She grinned at him, giving him a small wink.
"Thanks. I'm glad I met you, Alex..." She smiled at him.
"It's easy? I suppose it is... You don't have to worry about getting hurt... But what happens when you find someone you really like? Are you going to be satisfied to just leave it as a one-night stand? To see her with another guy?" She understood why he did it, but she couldn't do it just for that reason. She didn't want to like a guy and leave it as just that...

She was cool. Alex grinned back. "Of course I do. And I'm glad that you're glad that you met me. And I'm glad I met you." He made a funny, slightly confused face at what he'd just said, as if he needed to get his head around it himself.
He listened to Aimee speak. She made a lot of sense. She made him think, and he hated it. He imagined what it would be like to see someone he liked with someone else, but the thought... unsettled him, and he shoved it away.
"Well, I haven't met anyone I like yet." He said this with a cold edge to his voice. It was unintentional, but it was there, and Alex heard it. He heard it, he didn't like it and he didn't think Aimee would either. So he added quickly, "I mean, not before. Like, not before today."
WHAM. That gave the game away.

She laughed at his face and said,"Well, I'm glad that we're glad that we met each other." She grinned and winked at him again. This was getting pretty funny.
She heard the cold edge to his voice, and her eyes narrowed ever-so-slightly in confusion. When he spoke again, they widened slightly. "Not before today?" she echoed. Well, that was definitely a shocker, but she soon got used to it.
"Well... I must say, I know what you mean. I'd never been interested in any guys. Sure, I'd flirt with them and dance with them, but there was never anything there..." Dare she continue? "Then I meet you, and you're... different..."
She smiled slightly and added,"And I like that."

Alex was glad she got used to it, because there was no rewind button on his mouth; he couldn't take back whatever he said. Even if he could, he wasn't sure he'd want to.
"Then I meet you, and you're... different..."
He stared at her intently as she spoke, and smiled. "Do I take that as a... 'I like you', then?"
Well, what he did next and how she reacted to it would give him an answer. As he was still knelt on the floor, he sat up a little straighter, pulling her gently toward him. Leaning forward he gave her a little kiss on the lips, and moved away, looking down and waiting for a slap in the face.

She hoped what she had said hadn't changed things. She hoped she hadn't just ruined things for them... Then he spoke, and he had all of her attention.
She smiled and was just about to reply when he sat up straighter, pulled her towards him, and kissed her. When he moved away and looked down, she guessed he was waiting for a slap in the face.
She sat there for a minute then said quietly,"Yeah, you take that as a 'I like you'." She palced her hand on his cheek and gave him a small kiss on the lips back. Then she pulled away and smiled, as if saying 'See?'

Alex had been hoping that what he did wouldn't change things. It had been pretty forward, kissing her after only knowing her for less than two hours, but she was so... cool around him. Loads of girls that he had been around had been all giggly and stupid, but Aimee wasn't. She treated him like... a friend, a person, and he appreciated that. He really did.
When he pulled away and she kissed him again, his face must have been positively comical, looking up at her in absolute stupefied shock, as if he had been kissed by an angel or his cat.
Nah, scratch that. An angel.
He breathed a sigh of relief, got up, and, not looking where he was going, slipped on the pool of water that Aimee had left when she got out of the pool earlier. He tried to gain his balance, but that only caused him to topple more, falling head-first into the cool water of the swimming pool. He reappeared, coughing and spluttering and said sarcastically, looking a bit bewildered, "See. Now that is what you call a good dive! Yeah!"

She smiled at his shocked face, watching as he stood up. She was just about to warn him, when he toppled over and into the pool. She gasped.
When he surfaced, coughing and spluttering, she laughed lightly and got up, coming over to him. She smiled and said,"Yes, it sure was. You nearly gave me a heart attack! Are you okay?"
She cocked her head lightly to the side and said,"So... Where do we go from here, Alex?" She grinned and waited for a reply from the boy who had already captured her attention and a piece of her heart.

Alexander swam to the side of the pool laughing. "Yeah, I'm fine. I was going to take another dip anyway, but that was a damn shock of a way to go in! Merlin, some other inanimate object trying to tell me something..." He pulled a face, now happy.
He leaned against the tiled edge, arms crossed and over it, chin rested on his arms. "Where do we go, hmm?" He resisted the large temptation to cheekily say, "Straight to bed!", instead thinking for a moment.
"Well, I'm guessing you don't want this to be a one night stand." He grinned. "So I'm gonna have to trust you to be my girlfriend, I suppose. If you want to, of course. Lemme warn you, though. You cheat on me, and I'll curse to to the moon and back." Alex's voice was serious, but there was a shadow of a smirk on his face.

She laughed and said,"I bet! I'd hate to have had the rude awakening you just did!" She made a face, sticking out her tongue and squinting her eyes slightly before she returned to normal, grinning.
She smiled, almost hearing his unspoken cheek. She mentally shook her head and just laughed. Maybe someday, but not today...
She grinned and said,"Nope, buddy. No one-night stands from you." She grinned and said happily,"And of course I'll accept." She grinned at him and said sweetly, with a hint of amusement in her voice and eyes,"Don't worry. I don't cheat. It goes against my morals. And same goes for you, mister." She grinned at him.

He laughed at her face. "That's... attractive. The tongue." He made a similar face, eyes crossed and tongue lolling out like a mad cat.
"Good. I didn't think you'd kiss me then go, 'nah, come to think of it, I don't like this guy. See ya later, buddy!', but you can't always be sure. Hey! I don't cheat!" Alex said the last part indignantly, before adding, "Usually! Heck, most of the time, for almost all the girls I've been with didn't even get to call it cheating... But this is different. Promise." He looked up at Aimee, standing above him, and grinned, gray eyes sparkling.
He suddenly lunged, in one swift movement, and playfully tugged at Aimee's ankle. It wasn't hard enough to make her trip, though, and he said, "C'mon! Come in! Jump, I'll catch you."

She laughed as he made the face, too. "Yup, so attractive." She grinned at him.
She smiled and said,"Well then, that's good. Neither of us will cheat, so we don't have to worry about that." She noticed the grin, and she wondered what that was all about.
When he lunged and grabbed her ankle, she immediately dropped and grabbed his shoulder, laughing. "Okay, but you'd better catch me!" She laughed and walked back slightly, running and jumping into the pool.
